Ditholo Lodge is home to more than 250 species of birds and is fully endorsed by BirdLife South Africa ™. One of the most unique and endearing features of Ditholo is the waterhole that is home to our resident family of Hippos, that can be viewed right from the safety of the lodge. Easily accessible from both Johannesburg and Pretoria, Ditholo Lodge is set in a malaria-free wildlife estate with over 1100 ha of intact wilderness, the lodge is safe and child-friendly. The space Ditholo Wildlife Estate has active breeding and conservation programs for Buffalo, Sable and Nyala and is a fully accredited member of the Wildlife Ranching Association of South Africa. Game drives are the highlight of any stay at Ditholo and game walks and tree trails are an exceptional way to get closer to nature. Other activities include: Paddle Boats & Canoeing Looking to do something out on the water? Ditholo offers 4-people foot paddle boats for a gentle glide across the water or 2-person canoe boats for the more adventurous guests. These facilities are offered to our guests at no cost. Fishing The Lodge is surrounded by 3 distinct water features with native Tilapia, Catfish and Largemouth Bass. Fishing is available at a small fee and done on a strictly catch and release basis. Game Drives Nothing represents a true wildlife experience like a guided Game Drive, get to see the Lodge’s Fauna and Flora up close and personal. The drives are conducted by a professional Game Ranger and binoculars, reference materials and refreshments are all provided. Bird Watching The Lodge is a birdwatchers paradise, with an elevated viewing deck and a thatched blind overlooking our water features. Ditholo is a fully accredited and recommended BirdLife™ South Africa establishment. Bush Walks & Tree Trails Ditholo has clearly marked trails for the nature enthusiast that wishes to explore and enjoy the natural tranquility of the African bush. For ease of use the lodge has a walking trail and a separate tree trail with clearly marked identifiers. Bicycle Trails are also available for guests. Swimming Pool The Lodge’s swimming pool is surrounded by chez loungers with umbrellas. The pool’s central location makes it a popular relaxation and gathering spot, poolside service is available. Outdoor African Boma Guests can enjoy a traditional African Boma Dinner experience that’s takes place every Saturday evening and on special occasions by arrangement. Indulge in dinner under the stars with friends and family while soaking in the sounds and ambiance of the African night. Opening Hours: 6pm – 10pm
