Description

Spindrift is spectacular! Built in 2016 to exacting standards, it's thoughtfully designed and carefully furnished. Accessed by steps or funicular, (great for luggage!) Spindrift is sufficiently elevated to command 180° sea views, set back enough to be peaceful and yet close enough to walk to the harbour, the beaches, the pavement cafés and restaurants for which Kalk Bay is famous. Wine farms, golf courses and big-ticket sites - Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch and Robben Island - are easy to access. The space Spindrift is an elegant apartment consisting of a large sitting room with an adjoining small but very well-equipped kitchen, a luxurious bedroom, and a shower room. There is a desk to set up your computer and because the electricity is solar and grid-powered, the apartment is unaffected by any local outages. We have Netflix and free, high-speed fibre-delivered wi-fi. Kalk Bay is a small, slightly boho village where people come to relax. A good morning would likely include a swim in the sea, followed by a scrumptious breakfast, and then a walk on the mountain where the views are breathtaking, ending with a drink in a pub where waves crash on rocks just beyond the window. Come evening, after a gentle snooze and a spot of shopping, eating really well in any one of a dozen different restaurants, all within walking distance, means you've had a healthy, stress-free day! Kalk Bay is also a great base to return to after a day's outing to easily accessible local treats - Cape Point, Table Mountain, Constantia wine farms, zip-lining, any of 3 local golf courses, surfing or swimming with the penguins in Simonstown. And then there are the charming, nearby villages, Franschhoek, Stellenbosch or Hermanus, each with its own claim to fame, that will lure you into the spectacular mountains and sophisticated wine farms, or further up the coast where the whales congregate in the winter. A holiday in Kalk Bay is refreshing. It revives the body and mind. And isn't that the whole point of a holiday? I Guest access You have exclusive access to the whole apartment. Other things to note The apartment is particularly secure and ideal for anyone traveling on their own. Regarding security in the village, Kalk Bay is a Special Rates Area which means that we have extra cops on the beat. The village also has security cameras that are monitored 24/7. Security is therefore good but inevitably not flawless. The funicular makes moving luggage and accessing the apartment easy, although there are 3 steps to get to it. There are also steps inside the apartment up to the bathroom. The apartment does not have a washing machine or dryer but washing can be done by our domestic helper on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday. We have Netflix but not DSTV, the local cable network. The apartment is serviced once a week for longer stays. Additional cleaning can be arranged by appointment.
