Big C is a unique cabin set on six acres of redwood forest minutes from the scenic town of Trinidad, California and the beautiful beaches of the North Coast. We're located less than 3 miles outside the town of Trinidad. It is perfect for adventurous vacations or romantic retreats. The Eureka/Arcata Airport is located just 10 minutes away, with connections to San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Denver international airports. Due to a medical condition we cannot accommodate pets. Big C is a very cozy unique cabin on six acres of redwood forest. Lots of custom windows. Wood and tile floors. One bedroom with a queen bed, comforter, extra blankets and pillows. Small living room with a love seat and wood burning stove which is shared with an open kitchen area. Vaulted ceilings and skylights. The bathroom door opens to the outside shower deck (see photo). Enjoy the steam from the full flow shower head while gazing at the Redwoods. Forest privacy on all sides. There is WiFi for steaming on devices, however, there is no TV. We can be reached via text messages. We are located a couple minutes by car from Moonstone Beach and about 5 minutes from the town of Trinidad.  There are a number of beaches close by and some very good trails in and around Trinidad. Big Lagoon is about 10 minutes to the north followed by Dry Lagoon, Stone Lagoon and Freshwater Lagoon.  The Lagoon parks are beautiful. You can walk for miles on the beaches that separate the Lagoons from the ocean. There is an excellent hike between Fern Canyon and the ranger station in Prairie Creek State Park, and the beach north of Fern Canyon is very remote feeling.  The local hikes (5 minutes away) to College Cove, Elk Head, and around Trinidad Head are also very good. Redwood National Park is close by. The visitor center by Freshwater Lagoon is about 20 minutes away.  The trail to the tallest tree in the world, in the Tall Trees Grove, is about 30 minutes and Prairie Creek State Park is about the same. Recreational activities abound in this beautiful area surrounded by mountains, the ocean, redwoods, and rivers. They include hiking, bicycling, river and ocean fishing, surfing, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, agate hunting, and beachcombing. Not to mention some first class restaurants. The set of French doors at the entrance to the Cottage are of unknown age. They were purchased second hand around 1974. Years ago during a Spring cleaning the doors were sanded down in preparation for repainting. There were many layers of paint. As the sanding proceeded, an incredible pattern of lines and shapes emerged, some resembling oriental characters and others looking like cellular organisms. Amazing as the doors looked they were still rather ugly as the colors that remained were, well ugly. The paint was opened and the brush was about to begin the repainting. But wait, ugly or not, they ARE amazing. What to do? The doors were transported to the studio and treated like a canvas that was blessed with a fantastic patina but applied by a colorblind artist. New color was applied by brush and rag with just a few additional shapes to balance composition. The finished doors make a very whimsical entrance to a unique interior. For electric vehicles, there is a Level 2, 240v charger with two 30 amp cords at the Trinidad Library at 380 Janis Court. Also, ten minutes from the property at the Heights Casino 27 Scenic Drive, charging is free. Ten chargers with 20 cords.
