Description

Welcome to the cottage that Laurel built! A former professional in the hospitality management business with an emphasis in the food & beverage aspect of this same world, Laurel Cottage was designed and constructed on an acre of private land on Johns Island to act as a sanctuary in which to live close to the island of Kiawah in which I was employed. Created and built w/ beauty and comfort in mind, it is now my wish to share this special place as your host. Fast wifi, off street parking (up to 6) The space Laurel Cottage is located on a Johns Island oak lined, moss draped quiet street between Kiawah Island and the peninsula of Charleston, SC. It is very near the Atlantic, of course...one of the top ten public beaches in America is nearby, for example! Laurel Cottage has beautiful spaces inside and out...ample places to read or visit, sleep, cook, whatever you want to do to enjoy your stay while a guest. My favorite "spot" is the back screened porch! I love the many nature sights and sounds that surround me as I read or have wine or coffee or a meal...it is soothing, definitely my happy place! Guest access In addition to your private bedroom with attached full private bath, private front door entrance/exit and wonderful front porch complete with wicker rockers, I encourage and welcome guests to enjoy the beautiful and cozy living room (with gas fireplace), dining room, full kitchen, back hall work area, laundry room, back screened porch and backyard, with fire pit, grill, patio etc…so much to enjoy! Other things to note Beach Access - Beachwalker Park is a national, therefore, public beach park on Kiawah about 15 minutes toward the Atlantic Ocean. Hours vary but it is open year round, with parking (small fee), boardwalks with showers & changing area. During the high season theee are beach chairs etc for rent and a concession stand. It is a wonderful place to spend an hour or the day…ask the attendant when and where to watch the dolphins feed! Kiawah Island Golf Resort - While for the most part a private island, you can go there to eat at one of the many eateries, play golf or tennis or hike or bike part (or all) of their 30 miles of trails! Just make sure you ask for a day pass at the guard gate… Also, make sure you visit Angel Oak and The Charleston Tea Plantation…both free - and local and wonderful!!
