Description

Escape the hustle and bustle of daily life at our hot spring home nestled in the foothills of Mt. Hakkoda near Towada-Hachimantai National Park. We have lovingly refurbished this little house in the woods as a relaxing getaway. Indulge in a bath that flows straight from Sarukura Onsen’s natural springs into the house or curl up for a movie on our 80” projector. Experience the incredible natural surroundings and hike the wonder of Oirase Gorge or ski-in/ski-out at nearby Oirase Keiryu Ski Resort. The space A completely refurbished ground floor with a full kitchen, laundry machine, and natural onsen bath. We also have a projector and Bluetooth speaker for you to enjoy your favorite entertainment at home. Guest access The whole house — please note that the second floor has yet to be refurbished and needs a little TLC. Other things to note In terms of food, you're much better off bringing some food with you to eat than trying to find somewhere locally. There are a few restaurants that are open during the day, but nowhere is open at night. There's a full kitchen in the house, so you should be able to whip something up. To Our Guests Staying at Yakeyama House in Winter, Thank you for choosing to stay at Yakeyama House! We hope you'll enjoy skiing and snowboarding in Oku-Oirase, where Yakeyama House is located, or other unique winter activities like snowshoe hikes along the frozen waterfalls of the Oirase Gorge and stargazing at night. Yakeyama House, surrounded by this rich natural environment, tends to get cold in winter. The house is fully insulated and equipped with heating/cooling air conditioners and two smokeless, odorless, and clean kerosene heaters, but first-time visitors may be surprised by the cold outdoors. Keeping doors closed and turning off the kitchen exhaust fan can help retain heat inside the house. There are also spare space heaters available in the house for your use. However, be mindful that using too many electrical appliances simultaneously can trip the circuit breaker. It's also possible for lots of snow to accumulate overnight. We have prepared shovels for snow removal at the entrance. We hope you thoroughly enjoy the natural beauty of Japan's snow country!
