Description

In the Castelli Romani area, 40 km southeast of Rome. There is a large common swimming pool, a garden with children's games and a large park with olive trees and vines. Very close to Anzio and Rome, the villa can be the base for a series of excursions both in the capital and in the nearby regions. It is located in the immediate vicinity of bars, supermarkets, restaurants... It is close to Valmontone, where you will find the largest amusement park in Rome, Rainbow Magicland, and the Valmontone Outlet Village. Other things to note Velletri is a town of about 50,000 inhabitants in the province of Rome, with a very ancient origin that dates back to the Volsci and was part of the Papal States until the Unification of Italy. It is part of the so-called Castelli Romani and is located on the foothills of Mount Artemisio. During the Second World War it was practically razed to the ground following the landing in Anzio of the allies, some vestiges remain. In the Middle Ages the city was surrounded by mighty walls, but of 8 original remains only Porta Napoletana, rebuilt in 1511. Cathedral of San Clemente, built and modified over the ages, its current form with three naves with coffered ceiling dates back to 1600. Worthy of particular note on the canopy, the Cosmatesque reliquary of the fourteenth century in the shape of a rectangular temple, cusped on the sides with spiral columns and the precious and ancient icon of the Madonna delle Grazie in the homonymous chapel. Church of Santa Maria del Trivio, destroyed and rebuilt after the war but which includes the remarkable Torre del Trivio, conceived as a bell tower, is a slender late-Romanesque structure 50 meters high and 5x5 meters wide, inaugurated on April 15, 1353. Town Hall whose first stone dates to 1575. The architects were Il Vignola and Giacomo della Porta. Completed in 1590, in reality the interventions on the structure lasted until 1720. It also underwent extensive renovation after the war, which however respected its original appearance. Velletri is a few kilometers from the sea that on clear days can be seen (like Circeo Promontory) Rome is also nearby and also connected by a comfortable train: Places to visit in the surroundings: The volcanic lakes with the delightful village of Nemi (famous for its wild strawberries) and Castel Gandolfo summer seat of the Papacy. The Roman castles: Ariccia (famous for porchetta), Marino (wine festival), Rocca di Papa, Frascati with its splendid villas and many others. Artena, with its historic center with houses with sheer walls is among the best preserved in Lazio, is an admirable example of an ancient foothill village built along a limestone rib between two karst cavities, houses with a sheer wall Palestrina with its wonderful sanctuary of Fortuna Primigenia dating back to the second century BC. Monastery of Fossanova the oldest example of Gothic-Cistercian art in Italy, dating back to the late twelfth century. Sermoneta, a splendid medieval village surrounded by walls with the majestic Castello Gaetani. Ninfa, beautiful botanical garden Registration Details IT058111C2PVWBBYBO
