Wake to forest, beach and sea — all three from your own balcony. Our secluded luxury cabins sit high among the trees on North Uist in the Outer Hebrides, a rare three-way view you won't find elsewhere on the islands. There is a wealth of wildlife including the UK's smallest bird the goldcrest and the UK's largest bird the white-tailed eagle, and deer graze outside your window. Soak in the ever-changing view from your free-standing bath and unwind by the real wood-burning fire. The space An idyllic retreat for two — many of our guests come to honeymoon or mark a special occasion. Each cabin has a king-size bed in crisp cotton sheets, a reclining sofa beside the wood-burning stove, and big windows framing the forest and the tidal sands. The kitchen is well equipped (cooker, hob, microwave, fridge-freezer and dishwasher) and the bathroom has both a shower and a free-standing bath. Step onto your private balcony for morning coffee in the fresh sea air, or an evening dram as the sun goes down. Summer sunsets are magnificent; in winter the dark skies bring tremendous stars and a good chance of the Northern Lights. For most of the year, stay any day of the week — unlike most Hebridean cabins, we don't tie you to a rigid changeover day: arrive on the day that suits you and stay as many nights as you like. For summer 2027 (May to September) we're taking full-week stays: seven nights, Friday to Friday. Most guests only wish they'd stayed longer. We hope to welcome you to North Uist soon, Kathryn & Angus Other things to note Flexible stays: for most of the year, arrive any day of the week and stay any nights that suit you — no fixed changeover day. For summer 2027 (May to September) stays are full weeks of seven nights, Friday to Friday. A retreat for two; regrettably the cabin is not suitable for children or infants. Dogs are welcome. The cabin is raised treehouse-style at the front; at the back, access is via a ramp. This is a secluded forest retreat — there are no street lights! Long daylight hours in summer; in winter, long dark skies for unrivalled stargazing and the chance of the Northern Lights. The cabin is reached via a forestry track approx. 500m long; the speed limit is 10mph and the track is used at your own risk. It may not suit very low vehicles. TRAVEL TO NORTH UIST By ferry It is important to check ferry timetables in advance and to book ahead if you are bringing a vehicle. Crossings can get fully booked well in advance, especially in the summer months. - Uig on the Isle of Skye to Lochmaddy, North Uist 1hr 45mins. We are approx 25mins drive. - Mallaig / Oban to Lochboisdale, South Uist 3hrs 30mins / 5hrs 10mins. We are approx 1hr drive. Please note Oban sailings operate in the winter months only. - Leverbrough on the Isle of Harris to Berneray 1hr. We are approx 30mins drive. - Barra to Eriskay 40mins. We are approx 1hr 20mins drive via South Uist. We are approx 30mins drive. - Glasgow to Barra 1hr 15mins. Take a flight to Barra where the plane lands you right on the beach – the world's only scheduled beach landing! It is possible to hire a car on the Isle of Barra after your flight and beach landing, or from the ferry terminal at Eriskay and then drive to Uist Forest Retreat.
