Description

Staying at La Chapelle de Verre is a privilege. You will be immersed in the history of the glass industry. Marbrite, an opaque, mass-coloured glass invented and manufactured in the Verreries de Fauquez, adorns every room at La Chapelle de Verre. Glass, light, history – that is what La Chapelle de Verre has to offer. Michaël. The space Welcome to lovers of industrial heritage, Art Deco, glass, nature, walking, and cycling... This wonderful, little-known region near Brussels is just waiting to be discovered... Discovering the Glass Chapel, transformed into a home, is an experience. The restoration is nearing completion after more than thirty years. I invite you to immerse yourself in this unique industrial history. Thanks to donations from villagers and former workers, I was able to reconstruct the industrial history of the Verreries de Fauquez. Some beautiful objects made of Marbrite are on display on site. Your bicycles or motorcycles will be protected in the storage room. Welcome. Michaël Bonnet. Other things to note Things to see in the region... To visit Brussels, I recommend taking the train or metro from the outskirts. If local tourism appeals to you, there are Mons, its belfry, its museums and exhibitions, its Doudou (Whit Monday), the Ronquières inclined plane, the old boat lifts of Strépy Bracquegnies, the new Stépy Thieu lift, the Binche carnival and its Mask Museum, Charleroi, voted the ugliest city in Europe (but there are so many interesting things to do there), La Louvière and its Kéramis Museum, Bois du Luc, the ruins of Villers-la-Ville Abbey, the Tintin Museum, Waterloo and its famous battle, the Folon Foundation on the outskirts of Brussels, the beautiful city of Namur, and many other interesting places.
