The village of Hebden boasts a fantastic tea room just 550 yards away, and Grassington is just under 2 miles; a charming little town with a wide range of individual country shops, pubs and restaurants. Grassington also plays host to a variety of events including the Summer Music and Arts Festival, which attracts many internationally-known actors, artists and poets every year. Leave the car behind and head to Grassington or the nearby village of Burnsall on foot via the riverside footpaths. You can stop for a bite to eat and a drink in one of the local pubs, before sauntering back along the River Wharfe. Bolton Abbey, 9 miles, is sure to thrill history buffs and children alike, with its ancient abbey and magical woodland walks. The National Trust property of Studley Royal Park and the unusual rock formations at Brimham Rocks, also a National Trust site, both make for interesting days out, and further afield lie the spa town of Harrogate and York, easily accessed and steeped in history.
