The space includes a flat-screen TV, fully appointed kitchen, access to basement washer & dryer, and a good amount of storage in the unit. Best of all, the building is perched on one of San Francisco’s many hills, so you’ll have gorgeous views of the Mission District and downtown. (Please note that entry to the unit is up some steps & a turn, so the space is not wheelchair-accessible.) ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD Located directly south of the Mission District, Bernal Heights is a quiet residential neighborhood with plenty of green space and a wide range of shops and eateries along picturesque Cortland Avenue. From the apartment, you can take a brisk one-mile trek to the summit of Bernal Hill, a favorite spot for local picnickers that offers expansive views of the Financial District to the north, Twin Peaks to the west, and Glen Park to the south. Or you can opt for a shorter (and less hilly) walk to 24th Street in San Francisco’s fast-evolving Mission District, where new restaurants rub elbows with tried-and-true taquerias. Here are just a few of the local jewels within easy walking or biking distance of the apartment: * Precita Park Café (0.3 miles), an adorable coffee shop and eatery located on the handsome oval of green known as Precita Park. * Precita Park has 2 other delicious restaurants there. About a 10 minute walk from the studio. *Dynamo Donut and Coffee (0.5 miles), purveyor of fresh donuts in flavors you never knew you needed, like Passion Fruit Milk Chocolate and Apricot Cardamom *St. Francis Fountain and Diner (0.6 miles), an old-fashioned soda fountain serving inspired, affordable diner fare for big appetites. *The Royal Cuckoo is a fun, local bar with live organ & old school jazz happening most nights. *Asiento is another fave bar & restaurant close by in the Mission on Bryant at 21st st. GETTING AROUND San Francisco is one of the most walkable cities in the country, and adventurous travelers can walk or bike to the Mission (0.2 miles), upscale Noe Valley (1.8 miles), or the lively Castro (2 miles). There are rentable Electric bikes 4 blocks away at Precita Park. Public transportation offers several viable options for getting around. The closest BART station is at 24th St & Mission. The best way to get around the city these days is Lyft, Uber or a Taxi. Unlike many San Francisco neighborhoods, this part of Bernal Heights is relatively car-friendly. Parking spots tend to be plentiful, and you’ll have excellent access to U.S. Route 101 (to the Golden Gate Bridge), I-80 (to the East Bay), and I-280 (to the South Bay).
