Now with super-fast Fibre Max internet, The Beach House is situated on the Essex Sunshine Coast, right on the bank of a tidal creek with stunning views of the sea in front and the river behind. Being in the Nature Reserve, we cannot accept dogs or pets of any kind; sorry. We do not let to groups; we only let to families or two couples maximum. Absolutely no groups of more than four guests or parties of any kind. High tide sometimes cuts off the house so please be aware of this. The space The huge, usually empty, beach is just over the creek so you can wade over (bring wellies although we do have several pairs to borrow at the house) at low tide or walk down to the end of Beach Road to the nature reserve and through to the beach. Or you can stroll through the reserve, along the beach and back along the sea wall or stop and bird-watch from the hides or the sun deck. A booklet is in the house along with binoculars and bird books if you don’t know a plover from a pigeon! We now have mains water and the fastest broadband (including Netflix). Guest access The whole house is for rental. Other things to note The house is very unusual in that it is over the sea wall and gets cut off by very high tides. These are rare so please check with me or a tide table if you have to get to somewhere at a specific time. Most people think that this is wonderful but if you do not please do not book! The house is two miles along a partly private unmade road but it has been improved recently and is not difficult to drive along but we would not recommend the journey for anyone very frail and it does take longer to drive along than a normal road so please be aware of this. The sun room is up some stairs which are fairly steep and there is no handrail because the walls are made from ships' ply and cannot hold the weight of a person and we were advised that it is more dangerous to have a handrail that could fail with the weight of a person relying on it. We have been unable to come up with a solution for this yet so elderly people may struggle on the stairs. We are genuinely sorry about this. Our algorithm regards two people booking as a couple and charges for linens for one bed only. If you require both beds for two people there is a charge for linens (what we pay to have them laundered) of £10 per single or £15 per double set. Or you are welcome to bring your own linens of course. Please note that there is CCTV outside the house ad the one next door for security purposes.
