Other things to note Information about the "House of Musicians" House described to be the home of the "de la Rue" of which the most illustrious was: Charles-Félix Morice de la Rue, engineer, who died in his castle of Garancière in Digosville. Charles-Félix Morice de La Rue, born on September 4, 1800 in Laval (Mayenne), and died on December 1, 1880 in Digosville (Manche), was a civil engineer for the district of Cherbourg-Valognes, architect of the Norman lighthouses of Gatteville and La Hague. Biography He is the son of Charles-Thomas Morice de la Rue. He entered the École Polytechnique at the age of 19 and then joined the École des ponts et chaussées in 1821. He was appointed engineer in charge of navigation in Seine-inférieure in 1825, then in the district of Cherbourg in 1826. In Nord-Cotentin, he was responsible for the modernization of roads, including the Beaumont-Hague-Cherbourg-Barfleur, Bricquebec-Carteret, and Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte-Portbail routes. His work then focused on the ports of Cotentin, including Granville, Carentan, Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, Barfleur and Diélette. He also planned to dig a sea canal across the peninsula. He also focused on the construction of the Goury lighthouse and the second Gatteville lighthouse. These are two exploits, since the lighthouse of Gatteville will be, by its height of 70 meters, the highest of the French lighthouses, and that the construction of the lighthouse of La Hague, in the open sea, on a rock swept by the currents, ended without drama despite the disbelief of the Haguais. In 1837, he married Nathalie Levavasseur d'Hiéville, owner of the Château de la Garancière in Digosville. He retired in 1863.
