Spacious, sunny room with high ceilings, wood floors, 2 TWIN BEDS OR a joined KING, light block shades, central air, 55”TV, new recliner. Piano, deck, breakfast, gardens. Bathroom has clawfoot tub and NEW SHOWER, Travertine heated floors, and Endless hotwater system. LOCATION IS GREAT!18 places to eat within 10 min. WALK Walk to campus or town. In the AUTHENTIC OWS neighborhood. House was featured in 2015 OWS Historic Homes Tour. Throughout the house are high ceilings, wood trim and floors, Persian rugs, Stickle Mission furniture , and Norwegian family antiques. Home was on the 2015 Old Westside Historic Tour. The house is 100 years old and has original woodwork, but floors have been refinished and house remodeled, including a new bathroom. We retained the huge claw foot tub and added a shower system. Cotton sheets. We refrain from most chemical use in house and lawn/garden. Hepa filter. Besides this room, we have another, so both rooms may be rented for a group. This is close to campus and would be perfect for a visiting academic. From October 7 to November 15 we are hosting a Japanese researcher in the next room. We have hosted many researchers, visiting professors, assistants, and medical residents. We have close connections to the university (my husband taught at the law school and my daughter just finished medical school). Easy walk to town/campus/stadium: 10 minutes walk to restaurants (official per map app), 5 to coffee shop, natural foods grocery, or ice cream store. Keypad for easy entry. Living room, dining room, bathroom, laundry, deck, porch, gardens and yard. Let me know at time of booking if you are requesting to use the office. Bathroom has claw foot tub and bath salts are provided. A NEW SHOWER HAS BEEN INSTALLED by Vintage Tub. We have our own bathroom, so you won't have to share unless there is a guest in our other guest room. Message me if you want to ask if there is going to be another guest expected or if you are requesting to pay an extra $25 a night payment to insure a private bathroom (before booking). Air conditioned. We want you to be comfortable. Living room and dining room are filled with family Norwegian pieces as well as local art. Self serve Keurig coffee and breakfast (mostly organic) are presented in the dining room. The yard (custom walnut swing, teak swing, fire pit, Fat Boy hammock) and deck are great. The front porch is fun for people watching. My husband and I are retired: Linda was a school psychologist and Rolf was a defense attorney, professor UM Law, but remain very active. We both ran the Ann Arbor 10k (many years ago now, but we still know the best local runs). We like to hike, travel, do Pilates, ski, and often play with our 2 year old granddaughter. We have lived in the area for many years and can provide information about the area. We are social, but respect your privacy. Host speaks Spanish also. There are great walks around the neighborhood and a park just up the street. Large black walnut trees surround the property and neighborhood. Great runs. Just down the street is Washtenaw Dairy, best ice cream and meeting spot on summer nights. Downtown restaurants and new beer gardens are an easy and safe 10 minutes walk. Map app lists 18 places to eat within a 10 minute walk, including Prickly Pear, Real Seafood, The Earle, Bill’s Beer Garden, Fleetwood, Gratzi, Marnee Thai, etc. Walkscore.com: score over 80 for walking and over 60 for transit. Town is an easy 10 minute walk. A well known map app lists 10 popular restaurants within 10 minutes. Add another 10 minutes and you can get almost everywhere downtown. The Michigan Union (central campus) is a 12 minute walk. Bus stops are nearby, but usually unnecessary. Except Medical staff or north campus: If you are going to UM Hospital, however, it is a 33 minute walk, 20 minute bus (unless you walk and take the 10 minute shuttle from Pioneer HS or walk 6 minutes and take free campus bus), Recommendation is walk 12 minutes and catch quick bus from Blake. There is a key to lock your bedroom when you are away, but this is a very safe neighborhood. Front door had keypad. There is an indoor/outdoor cat, so keep your bedroom door closed unless you want a visitor. To insure a private bathroom (no guest booked in other guest room), at the time of booking, an additional $15 per night is requested. There is a slight rise at each end of that back hallway, watch your step. We can make twin beds into king bed with a kit designed for this purpose. Seems to work well (after my husband made extensive modifications).
