Description

This farm stay is anything but ordinary. Nestled in the Coffs Harbour hinterland with views over rolling hills and the Orara escarpment, Mimosa Farm is a working property where your hosts, Cherry and Drew breed and train performance sport horses and teach dressage. If you are interested in riding lessons, let us know and we can arrange a session or two. Or just relax on the cottage veranda and enjoy the views. Perfect for a relaxing weekend with as much or as little adventure as you want! The space The cottage is located adjacent to the main homestead. It is self contained with two bedrooms, separate bathroom and toilet, and living space with a kitchenette. The cottage has ducted heating/ aircon and a 3-stage rain water filtration system -- so no bottled water required. We have Starlink so you'll have fast, unlimited wi-fi during your stay. The main bedroom has a king size bed and the second bedroom has a large single bed. There is a huge wardrobe so plenty of space to store all the gear you'll need for your Coffs getaway. Whether you plan to spend your days on the beach, exploring 4wd trails or browsing local markets, a little pampering awaits you at the cottage in the form of crisp linen, fluffy towels and our favourite al.ive hand and body products. The living space looks out over a gum grove, offering privacy and views to the wallabies who love to graze there. The kitchenette is equipped for simple meals, with an induction hotplate, microwave, toaster and bar fridge. There's a bbq on the verandah to cook up some local surf 'n turf to go with a nice red and amazing sunset after a big day. You'll need to bring food for meals. The pantry has a few basics like salt, pepper, olive oil, milk and locally sourced plunger coffee. If the chooks are laying you're more than welcome to some fresh eggs too. Guest access Mimosa Farm is a working farm and equestrian centre. It occupies 100 acres and is being progressively restored after the 2019 bushfires burnt through 99% of the land (amazingly not the house or cottage!). After the bushfires, we have left about 70% of the farm alone to regenerate. Guests are able to wander around the parklands and paddock laneways. For those who are feeling energetic and up for a bit more of a hike, we've mowed a walking and riding trail to some of the untouched corners of the property. The walk takes about an hour at a leisurely pace. And be sure to wear covered shoes or walking boots in case you come across a local snake or lizard. Other things to note The farm is home to our seven purpose bred and registered sport horses, miniature horse Awesome, a flock of chickens and resident mob of wallabies who have moved in around the cottage and house. Three of our horses are 'school masters' and are available for lessons. Beau, Sparrow and Ella are all very experienced and used to all levels of rider. The school horses are all ridden several times each week by Cherry who is an accredited Equestrian Australia dressage instructor. If you want to take lessons while you stay, just contact us before you arrive and we can give you the details and prices. If you want to bring your horse with you on holidays and use the arena and farm trails to ride, no problems. We have a dedicated paddock for guest horses as well as stables -- it's a self-service setup and you'll be responsible for looking after your own horse. If you are interested in bringing your horse, let us know before you book and we'll let you know how agistment works and prices. We're a bit funny in that we welcome horses as guests, but not other pets. This is because the farm and cottage precinct is a wildlife mecca and our experience is other pets tend to scare the wallabies and birdlife away. You'll also see from the listing summary that we don't normally cater for families with children under 12. The exception is for Cherry's riding students who start from 9. So if you have a young person who is passionate about wanting to learn to ride during your stay, let us know and we'll arrange a custom lesson program as part of your visit.
