Come enjoy a relaxing get away on beautiful Sugar Bottom Road. A great place for the outdoor enthusiast, no matter the season. Ideal also for quiet relaxation and privacy. We are a small acreage just 15 minutes from Iowa City, 7 minutes from Solon, and 30 minutes from the Cedar Rapids airport. Our converted barn is at the back of the property, behind the house. There is a separate road leading back to the barn for super convenient parking. It’s rustic, cozy, warm and inviting. Enjoy the bucolic serenity of country living in our unique, spacious barn. The main room (950 sq. ft.) is referred to as the Great Room, consists of a comfortable living room area, a complete kitchen with a table for meals. The bathroom (3/4) is located off the GR hallway adjacent to a private bedroom with a comfortable queen sized bed. The side door of the GR leads to a beautiful, oversized private deck which overlooks the timber. This deck is fully equipped with a fire pit, picnic table, grill and furniture to relax in the sun by day and stargaze at night. The GR space, bedroom and deck are suitable for one or two guests. Additionally we have had several guests bring an infant or toddler, who supply their own portable bed. If you are a party of more than 2 adults we offer the upper level of the barn (note additional pricing). In this location are two rooms; a spacious bedroom (queen), as well as a living room for rest and relaxation. This living room area can easily accommodate a queen size blow up mattress (we provide). It also has a nook with a very comfortable single bed. There is no bathroom on the upper level. Both the GR and the upper level can easily accommodate 7 people with the use of the described blow-up mattress. We provide coffee, tea, basic condiment and common staples. Additionally, we supply soaps, shampoo, towels and paper supplies. We can supply special food requests if needed for cost. We try and accommodate our guests to make their stay comfortable and memorable. We love our life in Iowa and want to share a little bit of that with the many travelers that come through from different walks of life. Please note; there is not a TV in the barn. Finally, we do our best to be flexible with unique situations, though we’ll need to know the EXACT number of guests that we’ll be hosting. There are 3 beds IF we open the upstairs. But for two guests there is ONE bed available on the GR level bedroom as described above. We hope this doesn’t cause confusion. We thank you humbly for choosing the Barn. When you book with us you are the ONLY booking we have. We do not book the barn to more than one party. Please read through all of our guest accommodations and space capacity for the barn. We have a house on the property and will often be outside working in the garden or the yard, and will be available for any questions you have, while also giving you all the privacy you need. We are within walking distance to many beautiful hiking trails. For the avid or casual biker there are riding routes right on Sugar Bottom Road. Parking outside of the barn is super convenient. The entry door is to the left of where you park if facing the barn. Whether you are in town for a Hawkeye game, a graduation, a wedding at the Palmer House Stable or Celebration Farm, a romantic getaway, or just passing through, our goal is to make your stay memorable. We truly hope you enjoy your time here. Please note if you are a party of two (or one), you will not have access to the bedroom on the upper level unless specified through communication with us.
