Swimmers Rest, classic beach house, dog friendly
Swimmers Rest-classic beach house at Shoal Bay, NSW, 3 bdrm. Dog friendly.
Description
Swimmers Rest is a retro, colourful beach house harking back to childhood holidays by the sea, but with modern comfortable amenities. The house has two indoor living areas, three outdoor zones, high ceilings, lots of light & has been thoughtfully & sustainably decorated. It has easy access to stunning beaches and great bushwalks. Small dogs welcome, but check with us first. The emphasis at Swimmers’ Rest is to slow down, kick back and enjoy! The space We are ideally located between the Shoal Bay waterfront and Fingal Beach (2 min drive (18 min walk) in either direction). This also means you’re within walking distance to the Shoal Bay Country Club (or a courtesy minibus ride away), cafes, restaurants and shops. Our house is a 10 min walk to beautiful Box Beach, a lovely spot to catch the sunrise or sunset. It’s also 200 m from the walking/cycling path that winds its way through the bush to Fingal Bay which is the best swimming beach in the area, has a playground park and a cafe. There are other great walking tracks which you can access from close to the house. You’ll feel instantly relaxed when you walk through the front door. We invite you to sit back with a good book, play board games, listen to music or have a decent chat with family and/or friends. We like a good movie as much as the next person so there’s also a TV (although we did debate the need for one!). We acquired Swimmers’ Rest a little over 2 years ago and have been restoring and fitting her out since. Sustainability is important to us so we’ve spent time sourcing furnishings and decor from second-hand and vintage sources, upcycling, and restoring as much as we can. If you’re after a gleaming and slick fit-out with huge screens this is probably not the place for you! There are two living spaces so adults can have quiet time away from kids. There's also decking in our fully fenced small backyard to accommodate outdoor dining and lounging around the quintessential frangipani tree. There’s a generously sized front verandah with a hammock and Balinese/Indian furniture and locally made Adirondack chairs. Both front and back outdoor spaces glow at night with string lighting. We have a large main bedroom which includes a sitting area and desk area (if you really need to work away from home). There’s another queen bedroom and a third bedroom with two long single beds. All bedrooms have generously sized built-in wardrobes and ceiling fans. There’s ducted reverse cycle A/C and fans throughout the house including bedrooms. There’s usually a lovely sea breeze that cools the place down (our recommended form of cooling). We can accommodate small dogs at the property but please message us before booking so we can ensure it is suitable for your dog. No dogs on lounges or beds and we ask that you clean up after your dog and be mindful to avoid excessive barking, dirty paws and excess pet hair. A small extra fee will be applied for cleaning. The front lawn can accommodate a game or two of Finska. There are two SUPs, a couple of beach chairs and a beach shelter in the garage which you’re welcome to use. We’re planning on adding bikes soon. You are welcome to contact us before or during your stay with any questions you might have. Guest access You will have access to the whole of the property! Other things to note This is a residential area so we ask you to respect the quiet nature of the neighbourhood and keep the noise down at night so we keep the neighbours happy! While we love a good party, this is not a party house. So, strictly no parties and no smoking. Guests will be asked to leave if we’ve been alerted to non-compliance with any house rules. Thanks!
