With its own private entrance, this secluded 600sqft unit is the perfect hub for year-round activities, located just four blocks from downtown and only a 10-minute drive from Northstar Resort. Meticulously crafted with your comfort in mind, the guesthouse offers an adult-only hot tub for added wellness. The space Steelhead Guesthouse is a 600sqft unit located in the private and spacious fenced-in backyard of the owner's home. While guests can enjoy the large shared space, the guesthouse includes a fully furnished private patio, ideal for short or long stays. (NOTE: The rear patio is closed from November 1 - May 1, annually, due to cold weather, snow, and ice. The hot tub gazebo area is separate and is open year-round) The cozy upstairs bedroom provides guests with plush bedding, dimmable lighting, clothing and luggage storage, blackout curtains, a dedicated work area, AC, and heat. The kitchen features a full-sized gas range, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, and Nespresso machine, and is fully stocked with cookware, dishes, utensils, and small appliances for everything from quick breakfasts to full dinners or outdoor grilling. The well-appointed bathroom features a walk-in rainfall shower with dual shower heads, a built-in heater, makeup towels, dual-sided vanity mirror, and hygiene and travel products. Guests can also enjoy in-unit laundry w/ detergent, smart TV with Amazon and Netflix, Amazon Alexa, sound system, and a trundle bed that is best suited for families with small children or one extra friend. High-speed internet is included. Hot Tub The enclosed outdoor hot tub is intended for relaxation only and is reserved for adults 18 years or older who are registered guests. While the hot tub is private to guests, it has shared use with the owners who will always coordinate their usage ahead of time. Addt'l Amenities Steelhead Guesthouse provides beach essentials for two (2) guests including two beach chairs and beach towels (towels are seasonal only: June - September). Traveling with little ones has never been easier, as Steelhead Guesthouse provides amenities to accommodate families, including an upstairs baby gate, a toddler bed with side walls, and a Pack 'n Play. IMPORTANT: Parents and guardians are fully responsible for children's safety and supervision at all times, as the guesthouse is not childproofed. Please do not remove these amenities from the unit, and return any moved items to their original places before checking out. While we aim to support easier family travel, child safety is always in the hands of the adults caring for them. Electric Vehicle Charging For guests with electric vehicles, Steelhead Guesthouse offers exclusive use of a free and private ChargePoint Home Flex 32A Level 2 charger with J1772 plug (Tesla owners are asked to bring your own J1772 to NACS adapter). Due to high electricity costs in the mountains, time-of-use rates are in effect, with the charger active only from 10PM to 7AM. Please note that the EV charger is available for one guest vehicle only, as there is only one dedicated guest parking spot. Guest access The main house and guesthouse share a beautiful backyard that is open year-round and features a private, enclosed hot tub. While the guesthouse has its own patio for use in warmer months, it remains closed from November 1 - May 1, annually, due to cold weather, snow, and ice. Other things to note While Lake Tahoe is a stunning destination nestled at 6,225 feet in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, careful preparations and precautions are asked of visitors. During the summer months (Jun - Aug), visitors are reminded to bring appropriate cover-ups to protect themselves from the high and strong sun. It is also important to use non-toxic sunscreen to protect the lake from chemical damage. #keeptahoeblue During the winter months (Nov - Apr), visitors are responsible for monitoring weather conditions and traffic reports prior to traveling, as the area is prone to severe winter storms. Road closures, heavy snowfall, icy roads, whiteout conditions, and high winds are very common, making reliable 4WD or AWD vehicles strongly recommended and a requirement at various checkpoints. Those traveling in 2WD vehicles, even with chains or studded tires, may be turned around by California Transportation (CalTrans) as these vehicles cannot safely navigate the steep, winding, and snowy roads. Notably, roadside and street parking is restricted from November 1 - May 1, annually, in the Lake Tahoe basin with violations subject to fines by law enforcement. Lastly, if you experience altitude sickness, you are advised to rest and stay hydrated as it is usually mild and short-lived. If the symptoms are severe, consult a medical professional immediately.
