Forest Lake's Green Cottage

Enjoy a beverage, read a book, hike, enjoy lake views, swim, or kayak all at this treasure in the woods! Easy drive from major highways M-196 or I-94, and only a stone’s throw away from the Van Buren State Park and the heart of South Haven. The space The driveway to the cottage and Lake is over a ½ mile long and meanders through the woods, bringing you back to this private sanctuary. The custom-built cottage boasts clean lines and beautiful accents. Every detail has been carefully considered, from the flooring to the shower, to give you your luxury getaway. Our Green Cabin is available again in 2024. The loft is warm and inviting. It has a King bed, a twin sofa bed, and a twin trundle. The first-floor bedroom, with a king bed, has a sliding barn-style door to the interior of the house and a sliding glass door overlooking the lake and accessing the covered porch. The bunkroom doesn't have room for a dance party but nicely holds two stacked single beds and a sliding barn-style door. The bathroom has a beautiful quartz, double sink vanity with a vast mirror and great lighting, a shower/tub combination with sliding glass door, and full-size washer and dryer. The kitchen is fully equipped with a huge refrigerator, convection oven and glass-top range, over-the-range range microwave, huge under-mount sink with garbage disposal, coffee maker, toaster, and dishwasher. The moveable, quartz island has seats for four. All kitchen utensils, cooking, and baking spices/supplies are included. The passthrough living room has a sofa and two swivel chairs. Spend your time gazing out the sliding glass door to the lake and covered porch, or watching the 65” smart TV (with Netflix subscription), and wifi access throughout the home. Don’t forget to griddle (48” Blackstone type, propane provided) on the deck or enjoy the firepit (firewood for sale)… all while taking in the private lake views! Right down the hill, enjoy the warm Lake! (averages 80 degrees in the summer months) Clean towels, linens, and kitchen clothes are included. Pets considered, no smoking allowed indoors. We can suggest accommodation options for larger groups, just ask! We have a total of three cottages and a campsite with electric and water at Forest Lake. Guest access A signed liability waiver is required before being granted access to the property, no exceptions. Sorry, no Saturday or Sunday check-ins or check-outs between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Check in and out is private, and there is no interaction with the owners required. You will enjoy full private access to the cabin, and share access to the surrounding 130 acres with the owners (who may or may not be present on the far ends of the property and/or on the lake). We have pets and children you may encounter while enjoying the grounds, but the cabin can be your private refuge. When making your reservation request, please be aware the number of guests you listed when booking is the maximum that will be allowed to stay overnight. Additional, daytime guests can purchase a daily guest pass. Any violation of this may prompt cancellation of your reservation without refund or notice. Larger events are considered and can be arranged under a separate contract. Please note there are closed circuit cameras monitoring the property, but NOT inside the cabin in any way. Other things to note The lake During the summer months, the weed-less lake maintains an average temperature of 78 degrees and is surrounded by acres of wilderness and wetlands, teaming with wildlife. Kayaks, rowboat and, swim raft are provided for your use. There is no lifeguard on duty, enjoy the water at your own risk. All guests are required to sign a liability waiver upon arrival. The private, man-made, 16.8-acre lake was completed in 2015 and was built specifically and is used for various water sports including, but not limited to, slalom skiing, trick skiing, ski jumping, and wakeboarding. Watersport usage is managed through annual memberships that may be utilized during your stay. Chartered use of a MasterCraft ski boat can arranged under separate contract. Sorry, no outside boats are allowed. The location The Van Buren State trail boarders the west side of the property. This non-motorized trail provides direct access to Hartford, Van Buren State Park, the beaches of Lake Michigan, South Haven, and connection to the Kal-Haven State Trail.
