The space Welcome to Fox Beach House, an oceanfront retreat set directly on the water’s edge in Sullivan, Maine. The home looks out across the bay toward Mount Desert Island, with wide views of Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mountain visible right from the living spaces. Large windows fill the home with natural light throughout the day, keeping the ocean and shoreline in view from nearly every angle. The house comfortably sleeps up to 10 guests, making it ideal for families and groups traveling together. The main level is designed around open living, dining, and kitchen spaces that all face the water. It’s a bright, comfortable area for gathering, with views of the bay as the backdrop whether you’re cooking, sharing meals, or relaxing inside. On this floor, there are two bedrooms — one with a queen bed and the other with a king bed — each featuring its own private full bathroom. There is also a half bathroom located off the kitchen, along with a laundry room in the entryway for added convenience. Upstairs, guests will find a second living area with a TV, along with a quiet library space that includes two reading nooks, creating a separate area for downtime, kids, or extra space to spread out. This level also includes two additional bedrooms — one with a king bed and the other with one full bed and one queen bed. These bedrooms share a full bathroom, which is directly connected to the king bedroom. The lower level offers a walk-out space with seating and storage, opening directly to the outdoors for easy access to the yard and shoreline. Outside, an expansive rock patio sits right above the water and includes Adirondack chairs and a grill, making it a perfect place to spend time outdoors at any point in the day. Just steps from the home, guests have private access to a rocky beach where you can walk the shoreline, sit by the water, or take in the tide and sea air up close. Fox Beach House offers a rare combination of space, privacy, and direct oceanfront access, all set against one of the most iconic coastal views in Maine. The town of Sullivan is a charming coastal Maine village surrounded by welcoming neighbors and a strong sense of community. We hope you enjoy your stay here, along with exploring the many well-known attractions throughout the region. This area is part of the traditional homeland of the Penobscot and Passamaquoddy peoples. Sullivan also has a rich colonial history, with many local families whose roots in the area span generations. On a rainy day, you may enjoy learning more about local history through the Sullivan-Sorrento Historical Society presentations, available on YouTube. The yard and waterfront surrounding the main house are for your private use. Guests are also welcome to cross the bridge to the shared lot, which we maintain with the family of Vernon Campbell, whose sister originally built the home. His grandchildren may be around during the summer for sailing lessons and seasonal activities on the water. Fox Beach House is aptly named—foxes are often seen in the area, and this year a nearby den welcomed five kits. The den is located to the west, and it’s not uncommon to spot foxes moving along the beach, adding to the natural charm of the property. Guest access Guests will have private and exclusive access to the entire main house, which includes all four bedrooms, the kitchen, living areas, family room, library, and laundry room. You will also have full use of the outdoor spaces, including the furnished rock patio, the lawn, and the private rocky beach. There is a locked apartment on the lower level that will not be rented when guests are on site. There is a second oceanfront lot, accessed by a small bridge to the right of home. This bonus lot is available for guest use but it is shared with a neighbor. We do ask that guests accommodate the neighbor's use of that second lot. Other things to note Wildlife: The home is in a natural setting, and you may encounter local wildlife, including our resident fox family, seals, and eagles. Beach: The beach is a natural, rocky shoreline typical of the Maine coast.
