Description
Unwind with spectacular sunrises from this sunny waterfront cottage on a tidal cove in the Kennebec River! This is the perfect home base for a midcoast Maine getaway. The post-and-beam cottage has cozy furnishings and expansive views across a field, pond, and cove. Bald eagles and osprey soar overhead, sturgeon leap in the river & nights are full of stars. Not recommended for those with mobility issues. Bathroom is downstairs, bedroom is upstairs. Owners live on property with small dog. The space This gorgeous post-and-beam cottage was renovated by Sarah's dad, who is an artist and woodworker. It has a vaulted ceiling bedroom on the second floor with a queen-size bed facing large windows that provide expansive views across the property. Catch sunrise right from your bed! The bedroom also has a small desk, shelves full of books, and a cozy gas fireplace to nestle by. The open-concept first floor is a bright, cheerful space that features a kitchenette (w/ microwave, toaster oven, refrigerator, coffee pot, countertop double-burner, and sink), a living room space with a full-size pull-out couch, and a small bathroom with shower. There is a small patio outside the sliding glass doors, and guests also have full access to the yard. Down by the water, there are benches and a fire pit to sit and relax by well into the evening. There is a small staircase down to the water, and guests are welcome to use the provided boogie boards to go swimming in the cove at high tide. Please note that as summer goes on, the marsh grass grows higher in the cove, but it can still be swum through into the river. Guests can also rent kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards from local shops, but we strongly recommend you first familiarize yourself with the pattern of the tides since the cove empties of water and the current in the river can be strong at times. Other things to note - The bedroom is upstairs and bathroom is downstairs. - The gravel driveway is steep and can be difficult to drive out of in icy/snowy weather without all-wheel drive. It’s recommended that you use an all-wheel drive vehicle when visiting in the colder months. We will clear the driveway and salt it early in the morning on snowy/icy days, and then again in the early evening, but this is an important thing to be aware of.
