We, Dave & Jaimie, do all of our own projects and we are constantly working around the property and growing and building new things! Remington & Winchester,, our working LGDs, are part of our family and keeps all our animal friends safe from the wild things. Remi & Ches, along with the Highland coos and our other animals friends are always guest's favorites memories! Meander up the fern lined wooded private driveway as you make your way to our home. While it looks like you are driving through a national forest, a 2 wheel drive car will get you here in most weather situations (excluding snow.) Once you have arrived at our custom gate, there is a dedicated guest parking spot close to the home just for you! The home offers keyless entry and flexibility with checkin hours. We, Jaimie & Dave live in a tiny apartment at the back of our shop at the top our sustainable 10 acre homestead, and while we work Monday - Wednesday, we are available evenings and weekends if you need anything. The shipping container home at Highland & Co Acres is our home, and we work hard to make sure every guest feels welcome while sharing our home with them. It is our goal to make your stay on our tiny farm the best it can be! Remington & Winchester, our Great Pyrenees livestock guardians are working dogs and keeps all of our animal friends safe come morning. Located just minutes from I5, yet tucked at the end of a wooded private road, Highland & Co Acres is a small piece of paradise that allows you to feel like you are miles from the city. While our homestead is a perfect place to unwind and recharge, Kalama has a wonderful marina with beautiful sandy beaches along the Columbia River, antique shopping in downtown, or enjoy a day on the Kalama River. We are also just about an hour from both the scenic Columbia Gorge or a visit to Mt. St. Helens. Highland & Co Acres is the perfect spot to both start your day with a cup of coffee listening to the birds and wildlife and also to end your day after exploring and adventuring with a glass of wine on the deck overlooking the valley. Our homestead is at the end of a 3/4 mile gravel road that meanders through the woods. A car will make it just fine. Please drive 10 miles an hour and watch for other vehicles, although there are few of them :) There are pull off's along the driveway if needed. The property includes a large seasonal container garden directly across from the Shipping Container home where you are welcome to taste and sample, a greenhouse, berry patch, orchard, and a fire pit (with wood) just to name a few of the many amenities. The Chickens and ducks are always entertaining and are protected by their guardians, Remi & Ches our Great Pyrenees'. Oh, and don't forget the fluffy Highland coos! They love all the guests, because guests feed them snackies ;) Their favorites include apples, carrots, bananas, melons, bread - but really, they aren't picky! If you are lucky, you will be able to snap the perfect picture of their long tongue wrapping around fingers as they enjoy the treats!
