The Woodshed is a modern architectural gem just 10 miles from central Edinburgh. At the end of a winding farm track, this luxury self-catering hideaway is surrounded by the rugged heather hills & glens of the Pentland Hills Regional Park. Explore walking the hills from your doorstep or relax in your private wood fired hot tub. The Woodshed was nominated for a Saltire Housing Design architectural award. The space Crafted from whitewashed wood panels, the light & airy double-height space takes on a Scandinavian feel. Light floods through the large, glazed doors which also give stunning views to the hills. Splashes of colour enhance the uplifting but restrained décor through cosy throws and quirky furniture. An open-plan kitchen and ingenious folding dining table keep the space flexible and spacious. Follow the staircase as it wraps around the stove and up onto the mezzanine floor. Here the comfiest of kingsize beds awaits you. Sink into crisp white linen, the most luxurious throw and beautiful cushions designed by a local artist. Fall asleep in perfect comfort listening to the crackle of the stove and the wind in the trees. The ground floor bathroom is white-panelled with a beautiful, slate rain-shower. The polished concrete floor has underfloor heating throughout. Start your day with a hike into the heather hills on your doorstep. Embrace slow-living and light the wood-fired hot tub. (This hot tub doesn't start at the touch of a button but the process of stoking the fire is relaxing and enjoyable). The tub is filled with pure Scottish spring water and heated by wood harvested on the farm itself. The smoke curls out of the chimney, the stove crackles and fills the air with the smell of woodsmoke. Sink back into the warm water and watch the sun set and the stars come out. Guest access As a guest you have the private use of the whole cottage and plentiful logs for your wood burning stove and wood fired hot tub. The surrounding hills are yours to explore. Maps, flasks, tin mugs and a rucksack are provided to allow you to make the most of your surroundings. Hike from the doorstep or hire bikes a short drive away. Other things to note The Westside Woodshed is situated off the beaten track, hidden in a quiet glen in the Pentlands. Access to the cottage is up a 1 mile farm track. The track can be a little rough in places but shouldn't cause problems for ordinary cars unless there is snow. There is parking for one car provided next to the accommodation with EV chargers at Eastside if needed. (5 mins drive or 10 mins walk from the Woodshed). As the cottage is 1 mile from the main road, we do recommend the use of a car for the duration of your stay. We have a fibre internet connection with excellent wifi speeds. The accommodation is on Eastside Farm - an organic working hill farm. The surrounding landscapes are managed by us within various agri-environment schemes to encourage bio-diversity. Heating is generated via a ground source heat pump and the wood-burning stove and hot tub are fuelled using timber sustainably harvested on the farm. Registration Details ML00073F
