This cozy and comfortable home is located within the charming Town of Amherst in a quiet neighborhood very close to Sweet Briar College. It is only a short drive from Lynchburg yet is also convenient to other area attractions, such as the Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Trail, Mt. Pleasant Scenic Area, Wintergreen Resort, and an assortment of local restaurants, wineries, and breweries, including the Rt. 151 "Brew Ridge Trail." Our place has two bedrooms with lots of closet and drawer space, one bathroom, a nice sun porch with plenty of seating area, a well equipped kitchen, a full laundry area, and central heat and air conditioning. It can accommodate up to four adults comfortably. Baby equipment, including a bassinet and Pack 'n Play, is available as well. There is off street parking for up to two vehicles. We do not have cable or satellite service, but wireless internet and access to Hulu with a smart TV is provided. If you are staying with us during cookout weather, you may use the charcoal grill and picnic table located near the back of the house. Guests will have full access to the entire home and yard and are welcome to use all kitchen, bath, and laundry essentials (or extras) that are provided. The property extends to the row of Bradford pear trees in the back. We live a few miles away outside of the Town and will gladly meet guests at the house or assist with check-in if we can. Otherwise, we will leave you to enjoy your stay. A lock box is provided for self check-in. We will be available by phone or text for any questions you may have. Our place is located in the North Main St. section of Amherst, not far from the traffic circle. This section of town features some beautiful older homes and is the perfect place to go for a walk around town or a bike ride. Restaurants and essentials such as gas stations, a grocery store, post office, and drug store are within half a mile of the home. The Amherst County Visitor's Center is also located nearby. Sweet Briar College is less than five minutes away, and Liberty University is about twenty minutes away. You can walk or bike to some of the local businesses in a few minutes, but in general you will want a car to get around. There is no public transportation within the Town of Amherst. There is, however, a regional bus line called Virginia Breeze that stops on South Main St. in Amherst offering service to nearby cities and Washington, D.C. Early check-in and last minute bookings: Occasionally we receive requests for early check-in or late check-out. Usually we need the hours between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. between stays to prepare for the next guests. Sometimes an early check-in, within reason, can be accommodated if we have been able to prepare the house ahead of time, but we cannot guarantee it in advance. Please wait until the morning your reservation is to begin to make any requests for early check-in. To ensure availability for the next guests, we generally cannot permit late check-out. We often accept last minute reservations, up to 10:00 p.m. on the night of stay, but a request to book must be submitted if attempting to book less than 2 days in advance.
