Stay in a historic rowhouse on a charming, tree-lined street next to the beautiful gardens of the Capitol, Supreme Court, and Library of Congress. Professionally cleaned and sleeps six guests. Apartment has its own thermostat and HVAC system. The space The bright, two-bedroom English basement garden-level apartment is in our historic 1880s rowhouse and features large bay windows and over 900 square feet of space. Amenities include a full kitchen, in-unit washer/dryer, wireless high-speed internet, modern bathroom with glass shower, two HDTVs with Roku to access your streaming accounts, your own thermostat to control heat and central air-conditioning, blackout window coverings for a good night's sleep, and more! Stroll past the gorgeous grounds of the Supreme Court and US Capitol Building to the National Mall and Smithsonian museums. Most of our guests walk through the Capitol grounds to the National Mall and museums, but if you prefer, you can walk to Capitol South Metro and take the blue, orange, or silver lines straight to Smithsonian Metro without transfers. You can also walk to many restaurants, as well as to the renowned Folger Shakespeare Library and Folger Theatre, which are just a block away. You can even enjoy baseball games and concerts at Nationals Park, which is a walkable 1.3 miles south. PARKING PERMIT: We can provide you with a free street parking permit if you provide us with some vehicle information ahead of time. The street parking permit will allow you to park on neighborhood streets. Our booking confirmation message will include details. TRANSPORTATION: You can walk to three metro stations (Capitol South, Union Station, and Eastern Market), several bus stops, and the Capital Bikeshare (just two blocks away). Uber and Lyft are also popular in our neighborhood. RESTAURANTS & GROCERY: There are many restaurants nearby (from casual to Michelin-rated), including just 3 blocks south on Pennsylvania Ave SE, on Barrack's Row, and near Eastern Market. There are also several grocery stores, including the Corner Market (2 blocks away), Trader Joe's (0.5 miles away), and Whole Foods (0.7 miles away). Grocery delivery services (Amazon Fresh, Aldi and Wegmans via Instacart, and others) also serve our address. APARTMENT CAN SLEEP UP TO 6 GUESTS: -- Bedroom 1: Queen-size bed -- Bedroom 2: Two single beds (1 twin-size bed + 1 pull-out twin-size trundle bed) -- Living Room: Full-size sofa bed (sectional sofa converts into bed) -- We also provide a Pack n’ Play portable crib to set up if you like. Guest access Guests have private access to the entire two-bedroom apartment. We live in a totally separate unit with our young children on the upstairs floors of the house, which has a separate entrance and separate HVAC system. When we are home, you will probably hear little footsteps and muffled sounds from time to time during the day. Other things to note HVAC, THERMOSTAT, LIGHTING: The apartment has its own HVAC/ventilation system that is completely separate from the HVAC/ventilation system for the rest of our house. It also has its own thermostat and dimmable lighting so guests can adjust the temperature and lighting for maximum comfort. There are no stairs inside the apartment, but we do have several outdoor brick steps on our property leading to the apartment. Experience the best of Washington, DC and historic Capitol Hill!
