Just 2 hours from LA, our unique location at 6500 feet is 100% off grid. We are up in the pines above the mucky muck. Grab some friends, and come let loose for a weekend. Whether it's romance for two or a larger group we will accommodate your needs and make sure you have the most enjoyable stay possible. Ours is a mountain house. Built with rustic in mind. The 1300 square foot house is 2 levels, a large bedroom is below with its own bathroom including a bathtub. The bedroom has 2 or 3 beds, depending in the configuration. There is a king and a fold out futon. We have opened up what used to be a storage room to be another bedroom. It is very enclosed but it has a futon and a tw twin bed in it. Other configurations for bedding can be setup depending on your needs. If you have a group, we can try to accomodate you. The kitchen, common area and spacious deck are upstairs. There is also a full bathroom and shower upstairs. With an open floor plan so you never feel crowded. We call this the library as it has the classic floor to ceiling, wall to wall bookcase. (it even has the super cool ladder on wheels) Be sure to look for the "hidden library door" to a secret room straight out of the movies. The "library" also hosts the wood burning stove as well as a queen sized bed and futon making for a perfect cozy night next to the fire. The kitchen is large enough to store and prepare food suitable for making meals for yourself or your entire group. The deck provides beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and offers a private, relaxing environment. Watch the deer graze and breathe the fresh mountain air. It is especially enjoyable stargazing at night without any city lights. The property is just over 10 acres in the mountains. Hiking is a favorite pastime for visitors with so much to explore. Lots of wildlife, Birds, families of deer every day, Wild Turkey, maybe a Bobcat or two but that is not as common. Make sure to check with us as we do sometimes have bear and mountain lions that roam around and everyone needs to be on their toes during those times. We are onsite and can always give you some direction on where to go and answer any questions you may have. But we do try to offer you as much privacy as you need. Don't forget to ask about the ongoing work with very unique mountain trampoline playground, king size swinging hammock and other fun projects always in the works. We live on property in a separate house a fair distance from the cabin and will be there while you are in Millers Manor, the distance between the homes and the many trees lends to a very private feeling. We tend to be around as this property is our full time home. We don't want to intrude and we know that oftentimes this is your one big getaway and you want you to enjoy your time here which we fully respect. However, we try to treat our guests like our actual neighbors. We hope that you would call or text if you needed a cup of sugar, and we would want you to know if there was a bear around or if weather was moving in quickly. We will be available to greet you, answer questions and show you a few things to remember while you are here, or you can let yourself in and consider us a resource if you need us. There is a lot going on up here and we are very far removed from town. We all rely on our neighbors up here, during your time here you may just need that alliance too. At any rate, let us know what kind of stay you have in mind - and we can surely accommodate. We are 20 minutes from the closest store, we suggest making sure you bring any supplies you may need as to avoid a lengthy trip for mayo. Most of the road is paved but the last 2 miles is dirt. You do not need 4 wheel drive, but best to plan to come in the daytime so as not to get lost or make work for yourself in getting here. There are no street lights up here and you are driving on a dirt road among the tall pines. It can be a little intimidating when in unfamiliar areas. Nevertheless we are also happy to assist you getting up here if you have a difficult time. We are removed and a bit isolated but we do have neighbors that can hear when things get loud. So if you think you are going to come and party and be loud, be prepared, because up here in the mountains we all have a rule: If you can hear it, you are invited. (so bring enough for everyone) Most of the time, the roads are plowed and you can access the winter wonderland up here. But if the time comes ands there is too much snow, we can still get you to your snowed in getaway. (Although you are never really snowed in) As for the surrounding area, Downtown Tehachapi is preserved and a real gem to the locals here. You won't find the regular chainstore massacre here in downtown. But if its Starbucks and Sonic you require there is that too. Most people come up here to get away from all that and really just enjoy the absence of city lights and seeing the stars and the sound of crickets chirping through the night. Covid-19 update... Well with so much going on we aren't going to make "vaccine statement" or requirement. We are fine with whatever you have done and are doing to keep healthy. We have seen the renewed spirit in people when they leave and how much they have enjoyed being away from all the things that are so normal down there and we do not have up here. With that said, we have maintained our cleaning process to accommodate the attention to detail and standard of cleanliness needed today. We've added a full disinfectant pass through the manor by spraying everything with a CDC approved antibacterial cleaner after we have stripped beds, but before anything else. We completely shower the place with it. Then we mop and clean the surfaces with it again. Making sure to get the little things like door handles and light switches etc. We added at least day in between stays for your your safety. All of our linens are washed in hot water every time, including the comforters. We want you to be confident that we've done all we can to put your minds at ease when you arrive. There is really only parking up on the driveway for 1 car; however, there is additional space for a second car down below at the entrance to the property. We we are pretty strict about only having two cars per stay. Contact us if this is a problem and we will see what can be done to accommodate.
