The house was originally built about 50 years ago by the Italian-American architect Mario Bertelli as his private residence, and was later carefully restored to preserve its unique architectural character.  Its design blends Mediterranean architecture with Byzantine, Norman and Middle Eastern influences, creating an atmosphere that feels both exotic and deeply connected to the history of Southern Italy.  The villa is located in a dominant panoramic position just about 200 meters from the sea, along one of the most beautiful stretches of the Salento coastline.  A short walk brings you to the charming Baia del Pescatore, a small seaside cove with bar and restaurant, while a little further along the coast you will find several beach clubs and restaurants where you can enjoy the best of Apulian seaside life.  Domina Levante is also a perfect base for exploring the region: within a short drive you can visit Pulsano, Manduria, Grottaglie and the historic towns of the Salento, famous for their traditions, food and artisan ceramics.
