Home from home near Mabitac, Laguna

B&B in a villa in Matalatala, a rural village 2 hours SE of Manila. On Laguna Bay, close to Mabitac, Pagsanjan, and Paete, this is good as centre to explore historic Laguna, & the beaches & fresh fish of the Pacific coast, or simply to chill out! There are 2 bedrooms for rent, each with a good double bed. There is a third room currently being redecorated, it has air conditioning. It can be rented as an alternative to the Teal Room, for an additional charge of 500php per day. The space Matalatala is a village surrounded by green nature, either rice fields on the plain, or lush hill and mountain slopes covered in abundant natural greenery. Use the house as a base for touring the region and the nearby Pacific coast with its abundant seafood and beaches, as a place to relax and unwind, or as a staging point to rest after the "escape" from Metro Manila on a longer journey to the South. This is a family home for me (Eva) and my 2 children, but the kids are largely left home! For rent is our large "Terrace Bedroom" (23sq m) with double bed, private shower room, and east-facing terrace, and a second room the "Teal Room" that is a bit smaller, with a double bed. You have free access to all of the ground floor (sitting room, TV, dining room, kitchen, WC) and to our WIFI Each bedroom is perfect for 2 people sharing one double bed. The minimum rental period is normally 2 nights; for a 1-night stay, there is an extra fee of 500PHP per room. Extra guests beyond 2 are charged 1000PHP/person/night, excluding children 6 years and under who are free. There is no baby bed, so please bring your own as necessary. The rooms have an electric fan. There is aircon in a room that is a mirror-image of the "Teal Room", it is currently being upgraded, but can be rented as an alternative to either room. Choose the aircon option, and pay 500php per night extra! Our plan is to have aircon in all bedrooms, business permitting! The en suite shower in the Terrace Bedroom has a shower water heater. The Teal Room shower does not. For those of you for whom a cold shower is too much of a shock, the solution is a bucket shower - a large plastic bucket of cold with a kettle or 2 of boiling water added! After that, most people find the shower water very refreshing! Again, it is our intent to have hot water in both showers, your visit will help us achieve that aim!!! The doors and furniture are all locally made, and are sturdy and functional without being 5-star designer finish! The upstairs terrace has a table and chairs for sitting out in the morning in the sun, or in the evening for the cool fresh air and then star gazing, with a cold drink in hand! All windows, doors, and the terrace are now protected by grills for extra security Guest access Kitchen access allows you to prepare your own evening meals if you want, or arrange with me in advance and I'll provide you with a cooked evening meal. Count on between 200 - 300PHP per person, depending on what you would like For breakfast, either do your own, or tell me in advance and I'll prepare you a complementary continental breakfast with Filipino dishes (rice and fish/meat) available. Eggs always available, up to you how you want them! Tea/coffee unlimited! It's so important to enjoy a long, relaxed breakfast! You can always ask me to take you as guide to the Siniloan market (the closest big market, at 15 minutes by tricycle), to explore the local fresh fruit/veg/meat/fish market, the local non-food market, and the small supermarkets. You can also sample local traditional preparations, and of course the local spirit, lambanog! The house food has a strong western leaning, and has many western raw ingredients available, and amongst the best loose leaf tea in The Philippines! Matalatala, the village where the house is situated, has many "sari sari" stores each selling a small range of products (fresh veg, tins, snacks, and booze). Best to shop in Siniloan, and use these sari sari stores in emergency only! There is now a supermarket in Siniloan! Pharmacies in Mabitac and Siniloan, doctors and hospital in Siniloan
