Our 1810 farmhouse is beautifully situated in a picturesque Vermont valley, with long views of the Green Mountains. Surrounded by hundreds of acres of fields and woodlands, the house is completely solar powered (you are welcome to charge your electric car if you have one). Wide paths into the woodlands are just beyond the barn. The house is about 20 miles from Mad River Glen, Burlington, and Middlebury and close to Bristol and Hinesburg. Sit and relax on the back porch, in the yard, or laze in the hammock surrounded by fields and mountains. Sometimes the neighbor's cows will be grazing in the pasture next door. Close to great skiing and hiking in the Green Mountains, the three-bedroom house is full of light, fully furnished, with a fully equipped kitchen, library, three baths, WiFi, flat-screen TV with Apple TV, and fresh linens. Two queen-size beds and a queen futon sleep up to six. Love privacy? The house is on a dirt road, and your nearest neighbors will be donkeys, cows, and our nice neighbors who tend them. Depending on the season, bluebirds, swallows, orioles, phoebes and flycatchers will visit. White-tailed deer, wild turkeys, ravens, and the occasional moose, hawk, bald eagle, or bear are sometimes seen across the fields. Parking for two cars in driveway. Electric car charge station. Walking, biking. Bring your snowshoes and cross country skis—you can leave off the front porch. Landline. Games. Help yourself to coffee, tea, local maple syrup and popcorn. We stay in touch with guests until they arrive. A neighbor and I are available through the stay as needed. Call or text us if you need help or advice. Peaceful, quiet, owls calling, fantastic night sky, spring peepers, fireflies in summer. Cows sometimes grazing in the fields around the house from spring to fall. Car, bike, walking, snowshoe or cross country ski off the porch The water comes straight out of the ground on our property and is safe to drink from the tap. Because it is a limited resource, please use conservatively. There is a surcharge of $15 per person per night for guests five and six. This is added automatically when making your reservation, and is to cover electricity, hot water, extra laundry, paper products, cleaning, etc. We are still finalizing our future schedule. If there are dates you are looking for for next year please let us know and we will open them up if available. Consider calling ahead for local road conditions if visiting in winter. Our hollow enjoys a quiet peaceful existence, and the neighbors work the fields all around the house. Their equipment sometimes needs a large berth along the roadway. Please do not park near the farm road at the end of the driveway, and let us know if you will be having people over, or will have more than two cars in the driveway. Sadly, due to the covid, we are unable offer the woodstove. We need to come in to show folks how to use it, and we come clean it ourselves to ensure safe disposal of coals. As soon as covid subsides we will put it back on. Thanks for your understanding.
