Located on 2 secluded acres in Margaretville, this is the perfect destination for a peaceful getaway, but only a 5 min WALK to town. Start your day with a latte at Cafe Marguerite, grab necessities at CVS and Freshtown market, finish with a unique Balkan country dinner at Oda Wine Garden . Belleayre Mountain is a 10 min drive. Hike, fish, kayak and bike all within the surrounding area. The space Built in the 1880s, now recently renovated, Catskills Brookside has the perfect rustic mountain vibe, only 2.5 hours from Manhattan.Take time to relax and enjoy the scenic covered porch, ideal for enjoying a cup of coffee or glass of wine. The first floor opens into a cozy living room which includes a Smart TV, board games, and full-size sleeper sofa. For nights when a chill is in the air, curl up next to the wood burning stove (wood provided). The eat-in kitchen is stocked with all of the cooking essentials, including spices, and Intellegentsia coffee. There is seating for 6 (4 at table and 2 at breakfast bar). The lower level also features private bedroom (queen bed) and closet space off of the living area. You will also find a washer/dryer for your use off of the kitchen. The second floor includes the master bedroom (queen bed) with soaring vaulted wood ceilings and a freshly renovated bathroom, with both shower and tub. Kids will love the third bedroom also located on this floor — it comes complete with a loft bed and Nugget couch, an ideal hideout and fort. Rounding out the second floor is a cozy reading nook. WiFi is available for streaming and working from home. The upstairs bedroom contains a portable/foldable desk for remote work. Please feel free to move the desk to create your own ideal dedicated work space. We are child friendly and provide a high chair and travel crib. We are also (hypoallergenic only due to severe allergies) pet friendly and provide water and food bowls for your furry family members. Venturing outside, stroll the property to find a lean-to, rustic picnic table and fire pit set up so that you can fully immerse yourself in the peaceful vibe of the forest and stream. The lean-to is is a fun place for kids to camp out. You are in close proximity to Bellayre Beach, the Pakatakan round barn and Bovina Center farmers markets, cider sampling in Andes, and additional delicious dining in towns such as Roxbury and Big Indian. There is even an Icelandic jewelry store right in the village of Margaretville! Guest access Guests have access to the entire home. The garage is not to be accessed by guests. Other things to note Being in the woods means you may encounter wildlife and insects—it’s all part of the natural beauty here. Occasionally, small critters like mice may try to find their way inside, but we take proactive measures to keep them out. Some guests prefer traps, while others don’t; if traps are set, they’re discreetly placed. As for bugs, they are a part of outdoor life—bug spray is recommended from spring through fall, and ticks are present year-round, so always check after spending time outside. If you’re bringing a pet, please ensure they are on a preventative treatment. Weather here can be unpredictable, with snow, ice, rain, and mud. We do our best to keep paths clear, but nature sometimes has its own plans. Rock salt helps in winter, but in extreme cold, ice can refreeze. The driveway is plowed after 3-5 inches of snow, but timing depends on road conditions and the plow schedule. AWD vehicles are strongly recommended for our region.
