Adorable downtown Aiken, SC cottage. Perfect for the equestrian, golfer, or southern charm traveler! You will be within a mile of Bruce’s field, Highfields, as well as the Aiken Farmer's market, restaurants, bars, and Hitchcock woods. Leisurely bike ride, walk, or jog to downtown shops, boutiques, and antique stores. Excellent neighborhood and walking distance to Aiken's primary trademark South Boundary street covered in beautiful live oaks. The cottage on Marion was built in the 1920s and is very well maintained. It has a small but cozy outdoor porch area at the front entrance which is perfect to unwind and enjoy coffee or a nice glass of wine. The backyard is very spacious and is completely fenced in for your 4 legged friend to have plenty of free greenspace. The bedrooms have brand new comfortable memory foam mattresses It has a simple layout including a common living area with a 50 inch TV over the fireplace mantle (note fireplace is not operational). The kitchen is small, but very functional with a spacious fridge with icemaker, microwave, stove, and a deep farm style sink. The kitchen is stocked with general cooking supplies. The backyard patio has a dining area for 6 including a heater for chilly nights. Disclaimer: as cute as our one bathroom is, it could be challenging for anyone with physical limitations. We are working on it though!! whole house and shed for additional storage and items to secure! We are Aiken locals and are willing to help, give advice, and make recommendations as needed! Feel free to reach out at any time with questions, or even recommendations! Downtown southern charm - it doesn't get much better! This is a walking neighborhood. Watch your neighbors as they take leisurely strolls with their dogs in tow (Aiken is very dog friendly, but don't forget to pick up after potty breaks!) You can walk to the Farmers Market, the Aiken Library, downtown Aiken (for the active walker!!). Equestrian events at Bruce’s field and Highfields are both less than a mile away, but safer to drive due to traffic patterns. The house is also just 1 block from Aiken's most photographed spot, South Boundary - where you can walk under a canopy of old Southern Live Oaks, beautifully intertwined and laced with spanish moss. You will feel like you are in a story book. (Mind the trains during the week, but they won’t disturb your sleep!) It’s about a 10 minute walk to downtown center, But only a 2 minute drive! For the free-spirits, we have Electra cruising bikes available at your leisure! Please use at your own risk. We simply ask that children do not use the adult bikes and trust that parents will use their best discretion regarding bike safety. The bathroom has a beautiful claw tooth tub, but it does require stepping into and out for a shower. It does require some sense of balance and dexterity to maneuver.
