Description

Welcome to the Black Horse Canterbury, in the historic city of Canterbury. Black Horse Canterbury welcomes travellers from across the world to stay with us in the wonderful, ancient walled city of Canterbury, in our small, friendly bed and breakfast, located in a quiet road in the heart of this beautiful city. It is one of the safest cities in the country and was awarded the purple star for the highest level of safety. Check in is from 7PM, early check in is available with prior notice. The space Room Nine is an attractive ground floor twin room, with a private entrance in the gardens at the rear of the property. There are two windows both with gauze nets and black out blinds, and paintings of ships on the cream-coloured walls, the nautical theme is complimented by a welcome tray on a round table with a carved seafaring scene under a glazed top. The carpet is a neutral colour with a lino section at the end of the room. The beds are traditional wooden and iron frames with wooden headboards and sprung mattresses. There are laundry cleaned, white cotton sheets, four pillows and a 13.5 tog anti-allergy duvet in the winter with warm throw rugs, and in the summer a lightweight 10 tog anti-allergy duvet covered by our lovely Windsor pure white bedspreads, made from 100% percale cotton and featuring a quilted pattern. The two bedside cabinets have wall reading lights above on either side of the bed. The new ensuite has a power shower with instant hot water, a heated towel rail, an LED mirror and free toiletries. The beverage welcome tray comes with assorted teas, freshly ground coffee and a French press. A hair-dryer, fan and a large flat screen TV with remote are provided. The dining room in 12 Orchard Street is the continuation of the original pitch pine wall panelling, and beautiful varnished pine floorboards, and a fine example of an original Victorian fireplace with a brick surround and a pine mantlepiece, antique patterned rugs cover the floor. The furniture is turn of the century carved oak, in keeping with the surrounding Georgian and Victorian building. The French doors lead out into a beautiful cottage garden, with lawns and borders of roses and clematis. The dividing wall between the gardens of 12 and 13 Orchard Street has a plaque commemorating RIGBY BREWERY 1865c the time when it was a public house in 19thC.
