The stairway DOES have a handrail and has just gone through an expansion and complete renovation. -On both levels, you will find original hardwood floors professionally beautifully refinished & restored to their original glory. As such, please note that there are a few spots where the floors will slightly creak if you step on a particular spot. Guest access Guests have exclusive access to the whole house. Other things to note Please Note: Additional Rules: 1) Weekend Bookings: Reservations are normally not allowed to begin on a Saturday afternoon. Fri/Sat weekend nights must be booked together and can not be broken up unless prior approval is given from owners prior to booking. 2) Children/infants: Please note, the home is set up to accommodate primarily adults; and while we welcome children as part of a family, please just be aware there are not "childproof" features in the home (ie. prong covers on all electrical outlets, etc). 3) The home is of modest size and is set up ideally for 2-5 persons. PLEASE NOTE, A GUEST TOTAL OF MORE THAN FIVE (5) TOTAL PERSONS STAYING OVERNIGHT WILL HAVE A $40/NIGHT PER PERSON ADDITIONAL FEE ADDED TO THE RESERVATION PRIOR TO CHECKOUT DATE. (i.e., a 3-night reservation for 6 guests would have a $120 fee added to the total reservation amount). Thus we kindly request: - No more than six (6) human beings per reservation. - No more than one (1) infant per reservation. - No more than one (1) child per reservation. - No pets of any kind. - No smoking or drugs of ANY kind. - Please remove shoes inside the home. - If a guest in your party spills something, please clean it up. Thank you! 1) Our family roots here go back more than 110 years, and we are honored and excited to offer our local knowledge or suggestions of eating and/or craft brewery spots if you wish - please email me if so. 2) The upstairs bedroom on the east side of the house is off of Van Raalte Ave. The speed limit on Van Raalte Ave is 35mph, and on 11th St it is 25mph. There is yard and also a sidewalk in between both of those streets and the house, so it's off the street a bit. We also have double-hung windows which do an add'l job of reducing noise too. That said, light sleepers have occasionally noted in guest feedback that they feel this east bedroom facing Van Raalte Ave gets a moderate amount of street vehicle noise in the mornings. Please be aware that in general, in downtown Holland especially during summer time peak vacation season, there are vehicles traveling on city streets during both days and evenings. Our location is not what we feel is a loud or an unusual street noise level for a downtown Holland home, but we thought we would/should just note some details on streets and location (i.e. this is in a downtown Holland neighborhood) here for guests to be aware of. 3) Please note that as the house is a beautiful classic 1881 house, as you can see in the 50+ listing photos, it has charms and features which include: -A stairway to the 2nd floor which is slightly steeper than most brand new stairways built today in 2023, as well as slightly narrower. The stairway DOES have a handrail. -On both levels, you will find original hardwood floors that have been professionally refinished & restored to their original glory. The antique classic wood floors are a feature of the house. As such, please note that there are a few spots where the floors will slightly creak if you step on a particular spot. Additionally as is the case with original materials in the home that are over 100 years old, while the overall condition is quite amazing and a treasure, there are a few small cracks in the surface of the wood planks which are not abnormal. If there is a specific spot on the original 140 year old original refinished planks that requires a hairline or spot fill, or attention, please message the host and we will arrange for repair with a classic flooring craftsman in town who we use at the house when needed. 4) The TV is located in what used to be the main living room. That room is now adjacent to the new larger living room/sitting room (wall knocked out to expand the views of the park and lake). The TV is still viewable, but at a sharper angle than before. The TV is mounted onto a full-swivel wall mount, enabling the TV to be viewed at a better/more direct angle from the new central living room location; guests are also welcome to carefully move the loveseats or chairs over a few feet if desired (Kindly please do not 'drag' the sofas across the hardwood floor!) Please make sure to pickup any furniture that's being moved). Thank you. 5) The extra spare floor mattress for emergency use upstairs is a twin sized 6-inch memory foam mattress in like-new condition. I personally slept on the same exact model for 4+ months during a home renovation and slept well on it. It is also the highest rated and best selling portable twin mattress on Amazon. We take care of the home with pride, and ask that you please do the same. In general we simply ask that you treat the home as you would treat your own home. If needed, our rental certificate number with the City of Holland is: CSTR 18110
