Description
This rustic cottage is 1 of 3 listings available in our private village, Jizobaru, which is by Onsen towns (bath houses): Hosenji, Oguni, Yufuin, etc. Nestled in between a forest, you'll be accompanied by the sounds of birds chirping and a running freshwater creek from the Chikugo river. This secluded mountain cottage will be the perfect retreat to escape a busy lifestyle. Located at the border of Aso National Park, far from light pollution, you may be able to stargaze on a clear night The space This listing is an entire house for you to stay. The thatched roof is a rare masterpiece of craftsmanship and attention to detail. Twenty-seven years ago, when the building was constructed, 300 bales of local "bamboo charcoal" were installed on the ceiling, walls, and under the floor. We hope you enjoy a refreshing morning in this environment filled with bamboo charcoal, which is famous for its detoxifying effects. **Traditional futon mattresses are available for guests (room 1 → 2 futons, room 2 → 2 futons, room 3 → 1 futon) **Kitchen with a very small dining table, portable BBQ grill and utensils. Please find pics for details. **Office space for working/studying with a large desk and Wifi (cellular phone signal only) **Entrance of the full bathroom is by the outside deck (1-2 steps away from the bedroom) Guest access ** We ask you to respect the privacy of other occupants in the lot. Parking space will be shared (you'll still have spaces for 3-4 cars) **BONUS! Follow the trail to the creek to have a taste of fresh drinking water straight from the mountains. As this is a private home, certain furnishings and amenities may vary in availability from the initial listing photos, depending on season and conditions. Other things to note ** For those who are non Japanese residence, we require passport photos for all (+18) prior to check in per Japanese Government regulation. ** As you are in the woods, expect to have some company from wildlife (insects, deers, boars) Temperatures are much lower at higher altitudes. ** No shoes in the house. ** Located at right by the national park boundary, no internet cable. Cellular signal Wifi only. ** The closest convenience store is 30 minutes away, we recommend that you do your shopping in Kusu-town or Handa Kogen prior to your arrival. ** Broadcasts from the town hall to the residents can be heard three times a day. (time signal, music, chimes, announcements of local events, etc.) From the tone of voice and the fact that it is not an alarm, I believe we can determine that it is not an emergency evacuation order. Always watch for your group when out on the deck or trails. We are not responsible for any injuries. There may also be local hunting activities in the forest - (Snares, trap cages, and gunshots for wild deer and boar population control. Please refer to the Ministry of the Environment/Forestry of Japan for more information) Registration Details Hotels and Inns Business Act | 大分県西部保健所 | 指令西保第6号の17
