The cottage’s uneven wooden floors hold the memory of footsteps long past, while open windows invite in the salty ocean air drifting through the trees. Though there is no air conditioning, the cottage rests beneath a canopy of shade, and fans are thoughtfully placed to keep the rooms cool and breezy—just as a true Maine cottage should be. In the colder months, the crackle of the fire stove brings warmth and romance, making Cornerstone Cottage Acadia an inviting year-round escape. Summer: June, July and August reservations are a weekly rental from Friday-Friday. Shore Access: Thanksgiving through the beginning of April the shore stairs will be inaccessible as we secure them for potential winter storms. Location: It is situated within walking distance from Lamoine Beach and Lamoine State Park. The cottage is just a short drive to the entrance of Acadia National Park and the charming villages of Bar Harbor and Southwest Harbor on Mount Desert Island. Ellsworth is a short 15 min drive away. The Gateway to Acadia Welcome Center is 8 miles away. Nature and Wildlife: Cornerstone Cottage Acadia is surrounded by Maine’s natural beauty, where you may spot wildlife in the yard—best enjoyed from a distance. While we treat seasonally for pests, the occasional bug may appear; it’s part of the setting, and we’ll always do our best to keep you comfortable. Guest access Guests will have access to the entire property. Guests will also have private shore access directly from the property. A code for the digital lock will be provided to each guest prior to check in. Other things to note Rental Agreement: 1. Guest shall be entitled to possession of the Premises on the 1st day of the Rental Term. At the conclusion of the reservation, Guest shall peaceably surrender the Premises to the Landlord in good condition, as it was at the commencement of the Agreement, excluding reasonable wear and tear. In the event that Guest had not surrendered the property by the identified check out time, Landlord may charge guest up to $120 per hour (unless late check out has been previously agreed with Landlord). 2. For the purposes of this Agreement, Guest shall not only include the primary renter identified within the rental agreement, but also all other guests and invitees of Guest using, occupying, or visiting the Property during the Rental Term. Each person occupying or visiting the Premises shall be jointly and severally liable under this Agreement. 3. Guest agrees to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law to indemnify and hold harmless Landlord from and against all injuries to person and damages to Guest’s property sustained in or about the Premises arising from or are in connection with Guest’s possession, use or occupation of the Premises. Guest further agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Landlord from and against all expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees and expenses incurred in connection with any and all claims, suits, demands, actions, or judgments for said injuries or damages. 4. Guest acknowledges that the property contains Bunk Beds, has uneven floors due to the age of the house, a tree swing and exterior stairs that do not have handrails and use of them is at the sole risk of Guest. 5. If there is evidence that pets have been present or smoking has occurred on the property there will be a $1000 fine. Guests are subject to immediate removal and will forfeit the remainder of the reservation.
