A Bit of the Story Once part of a historic coastal hotel, Cornerstone Cottage has welcomed guests to Maine’s shoreline for more than 100 years. Original wood floors, ocean breezes drifting through open windows, and thoughtful collected details reflect the slower rhythm of coastal Maine life. While the cottage does not have air conditioning, its shaded setting, coastal breezes, and fans throughout the home help keep the space comfortable during warmer months — much like a traditional Maine summer cottage was meant to feel. In cooler seasons, the wood stove becomes a natural gathering place after days spent exploring the coast. A Note About Nature Cornerstone Cottage is surrounded by Maine’s coastal landscape, where wildlife sightings may include deer, seals, bald eagles, and other native wildlife. As with any waterfront setting, occasional insects are part of the natural environment. The home is professionally treated and carefully maintained to ensure a comfortable stay. Summer Booking details: June-August: weekly rentals (Friday-Friday) Guest access Guests will have access to the entire property. Guests will also have private shore access directly from the property. A code for the digital lock will be provided to each guest prior to check in. Other things to note Rental Agreement: 1. Guest shall be entitled to possession of the Premises on the 1st day of the Rental Term. At the conclusion of the reservation, Guest shall peaceably surrender the Premises to the Landlord in good condition, as it was at the commencement of the Agreement, excluding reasonable wear and tear. In the event that Guest had not surrendered the property by the identified check out time, Landlord may charge guest up to $120 per hour (unless late check out has been previously agreed with Landlord). 2. For the purposes of this Agreement, Guest shall not only include the primary renter identified within the rental agreement, but also all other guests and invitees of Guest using, occupying, or visiting the Property during the Rental Term. Each person occupying or visiting the Premises shall be jointly and severally liable under this Agreement. 3. Guest agrees to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law to indemnify and hold harmless Landlord from and against all injuries to person and damages to Guest’s property sustained in or about the Premises arising from or are in connection with Guest’s possession, use or occupation of the Premises. Guest further agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Landlord from and against all expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees and expenses incurred in connection with any and all claims, suits, demands, actions, or judgments for said injuries or damages. 4. Guest acknowledges that the property contains Bunk Beds, has uneven floors due to the age of the house, a tree swing and exterior stairs that do not have handrails and use of them is at the sole risk of Guest. 5. If there is evidence that pets have been present or smoking has occurred on the property there will be a $1000 fine. Guests are subject to immediate removal and will forfeit the remainder of the reservation.
