Whiffletree Cottage-steps from Lake Dunmore shore!
Built in the 1940's, our cozy, antique-adorned guesthouse is full of character. Located on a peaceful, unpaved road, the cottage is steps away from great swimming: shallow, warm water near the shoreline, with a sandy bottom. Guests may use kayaks and are likely to spot loons who frequent the lake. Many favorite local trailheads are a short walk from the back door and you're within a 20 minute drive to the towns of Middlebury and Brandon. Ideal for couples, solo adventurers, and small families. Guests are required to bring their own drinking water, bed linens, bath & beach towels. Blankets, pillows, dish towels, and shower mats are provided, as is hot/cold running water for non-potable use (washing, showering, dish washing). A single parking space is available to quests behind the cottage. Just give us a call if you need anything! The cottage is located among a small grouping of similar seasonal cottages along an unpaved road, a good sound-barrier distance from the main road around lake Dunmore. Trailheads for the Falls of Lana, Rattle Snake Point, Silver Lake and Mt. Moosalamoo are .4 miles from the back door. The Middlebury Natural Foods Coop & Hannaford Supermarket are both well stocked food markets within a 20 minute drive. The Campersville convenience store and Paddler's Pub are on the lake, both within a 5-7 minute drive. There are multiple locale eateries and breweries in the area (Middlebury, Brandon, Bristol, and Vergennes) all within a 30 min drive.
