The space Little Pilgrims Retreat is ideally situated to explore the very best of Canterbury and the surrounding Kent countryside. Just a 15-minute walk brings you to the heart of the historic city centre, where you’ll discover the iconic Canterbury Cathedral, the Marlowe Theatre, charming cobbled streets, and a buzzing mix of restaurants, independent shops, cafés, and traditional pubs. For a breath of fresh air, head to Westgate Gardens just 10 minutes away, and enjoy riverside walks along the River Stour or a sunny picnic. Punting along the River Stour is a must-do experience, offering a unique perspective of the city’s medieval architecture and serene gardens. You’re also close to the beautifully kept Dane John Gardens, perfect for a relaxed stroll or a coffee at the park’s quaint café. Only a 5-minute walk from Canterbury West Station, you’ll have fast connections to London St Pancras and easy access to Kent’s coast, including Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate, and the breathtaking White Cliffs of Dover – all ideal for day trips. For nature lovers and adventurers, the Crab & Winkle Trail starts nearby and leads to Whitstable, a picturesque seaside town known for its oysters, harbour, and vibrant food scene. Blean Woods Nature Reserve also offers peaceful woodland walks and wildlife spotting. Just a short stroll from the cottage, you’ll find everything you need: • Sainsbury’s Local (5 mins) • Independent bakery, butcher, and greengrocer • Larger supermarkets a short drive or bus ride away The property is also within easy reach of the University of Kent, Canterbury Christ Church University, and The King’s School, making it a convenient base for visiting families, academic events, or prospective students. To make your stay extra cozy, we provide a complimentary basket of logs and kindling for the log burner between October and March. Guest access To the rear of the property there is a path that goes across the garden for shared outdoor access by the neighbours, although this is very rarely used. Other things to note The front door of the cottage opens onto the pavement. There is a pedestrian crossing nearby so the vehicles are not travelling fast, but during the day there will be traffic noise, less so at the weekends. However there is secondary glazing on the downstairs window. There is no private parking with the property. Parking is available close by in the permit area which is free for up to 4hrs between Monday-Friday 8am-4pm. All times outside of this are free. If you require more than the 4hrs free parking we can issue parking permits for the roads below for £5 each which allows 24hrs at a time: St Dunstans Close Whitstable Road London Road Mead Way Crown Gardens Princess Way Somber Close Queens Avenue Temple Road Westgate Court Avenue Ramsey Close Whitehall Close Pine Tree Avenue and Forty Acres Road have FREE parking all the time and are within a 10 minute walk.
