Description
Aulneau, a former Canadian Coast Guard tugboat built in 1956, has been lovingly converted into a small floating apartment. Perfect for a couple's weekend getaway, this unique boat is within walking distance of Downtown, Wickenden Street, Brown, RISD, etc. *Please note that the boat is not equipped with a shower or wifi. Please read the description below for details about the features and limitations of Tug Life before booking* The space Original shippy details like bronze portholes and ship's helm complement custom cabinetry, fresh upholstery, and stylish decoration to create a comfortable and inviting atmosphere aboard this charming old boat. Aulneau offers a full kitchen with hot and cold running water, a three burner stove, basic cooking utensils, drinking water, coffee, and tea. The bedroom is small but cozy with a double(ish) bed. Heat and air conditioning keep the boat comfortable in any weather. There is a large aft deck perfect for drinks or dinner with a view of the city. The pilot house offers a cozy respite for morning coffee. The boat is equipped with an Airhead composting toilet. The boat's toilet will be clean, odor-free, and simple if used correctly. I ask that you follow the printed instructions for its use. It will probably be the smallest bathroom you will ever use, but it is perfectly functional! The boat is not equipped with a shower, and there is no land-based bathroom available. Please be aware that there is more stooping, bending, etc. required to navigate this boat than a regular apartment. The bed is roughly the size of a double, but is shorter than standard. Please take a close look at the pictures to get an idea of interior space. It’s nice, but it’s small! This is of course not your standard Airbnb, but a real tugboat that spent most of its life working in the Great Lakes and Canadian Arctic. If you appreciate beautiful old machines, you will love this boat. There is free street parking adjacent to the boat and several nearby pay lots. Overnight street parking is not permitted; this rule is very rarely enforced, and parking tickets cost $25 as of this writing. Registration Details RE 07288-STR, expiry date: 2026-02-14
