Brukshotellet - single bedroom w. shared bathroom
Brukshotellet Öland - kursgård och vandrarhem
Description
Single room with shared bathroom on the second floor. On the first floor, there is a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, and a larger and smaller living room. There is one toilet per floor, but currently only one shower on the second floor. In an emergency, it is possible to sleep two in the room as the upper bed can be lifted off, but it will be cramped. While this is a hotel building, it is not an ordinary hotel anymore, it's more like a large, shared home. You can either rent the whole hotel or just a room. The guests bring their own bed linen and towels (can be rented for 150/SEK/person) as well as all consumables, such as toilet paper, washing-up liquid and so on. There should be enough for a couple of days upon arrival, and when you leave - make sure it's enough for the next-coming guest's first days too. There is no restaurant, but a large kitchen for you to use. There is a shop within walking distance of the Brukshotellet. The house is both old and charming but in need of some renovation. Since I bought the house in 2020, I have started renovations both inside and outside. For the time being, 100 % of the earnings are used for maintenance and renovation, with as little disturbance as possible. One of the things that are high on the list is that there is currently only one shower that is shared by the seven rooms that do not have their own shower in the room. There is a large parking by the house. Just a few kilometres from the hotel is Stora Alvaret, one of the world's largest Alvars. With its very special nature, it is on UNESCO's list of world heritage sites, as part of Södra Öland's Agricultural Landscape. A stone's throw away from the hotel is also the Bergsstigen, a hiking trail of about 5 km, Fågelsjön, the Ölandsleden cycle path and a cobblestone beach. You can swim right outside the hotel, or take the car to one of the larger bathing places around. About a mile away is the partially closed limestone quarry, Grönhögen. The large limestone quarry is today filled with water and offers bathing in turquoise water. By car (and with some planning by bus) you can also get to Öland's southern tip in about 20 minutes. Here is one of Sweden's most important bird stations, Ottenby, in beautiful nature. In large parts of the year you can also see seals here. There is free parking in the courtyard. Travelling by public transport works, but requires planning. It is best to check on Kalmar länstrafik's website. On Sundays there are few, if any, departures. Some tours must be booked in advance. There are two bus stops to choose from: - Cementfabriken (outside the door, but with few departures) - Södra Möckleby (600m) The guests clean themselves and bring all consumables such as toilet paper, washing-up liquid and so on. There should be enough for a couple of days when you arrive - and also when you leave. Cleaning not properly done is charged up to 5000 SEK, depending on the cost to hire a cleaning company. Towel and bedlinen are not included, but can be rented for 150 SEK/set. Kitchen towels can also be rented, 3 for 50 SEK.
