Just over 1 mile from Lucas Valley Road, up a curvy paved road—we have a spacious home with two guest units—with their own entrances. Outdoor spa area: hot tub, outdoor shower, cold plunge & sauna. The space Welcome to Nicasio There is nowhere quite like this in West Marin — and very few places like it anywhere. Tucked into thirteen wooded acres above Nicasio, this is a genuine hilltop homestead, not a hotel. Although you are never far from civilization, it feels remarkably remote: dark night skies, brilliant stars, hawks circling at eye level, and a stillness that settles into you. Once you arrive, you may not want to leave. **The Drive** Just over a mile from Lucas Valley Road, up a beautiful, winding paved road through the woods. Many guests love the approach — it's part of the experience. If twisty roads are a concern, we recommend arriving during daylight. **The Space** A spacious, comforting studio with private entrance and a gorgeous deck with breathtaking views — the kind you linger over with morning coffee. Thoughtfully furnished with designer pieces, original art, and a quality mattress with down comforter. Mini-fridge, microwave, drip coffee, tea, and the basics for easy, comfortable stays. Work area with strong WiFi. Extra heaters provided so you control the temperature in cooler months. **The Grounds** Hiking straight from the door. Wildlife everywhere. Star-gazing from the hot tub. This is West Marin at its most alive — quirky, beautiful, and genuinely wild. **Outdoor Spa Area** We've created a private spa on the property: hot tub maintained at 104° (complimentary, please enjoy until 10pm), outdoor shower, cold plunge, and sauna. Cold plunge and sauna are available for an additional fee — sauna is $45 per session and requires 30 minutes notice for heating. Please inquire when booking. Note: inclement weather or maintenance may occasionally limit access. **Pets** Pets are warmly welcome. We have a large fenced area perfect for play and roaming. Please do not let animals off leash at night — for their safety, the wildlife out here is real. A cleaning fee applies: $45 **A Note on Sound** This studio is part of the main house. We are frequently traveling and often out during the day, but ambient noise is occasionally possible. Winter brings chirping frogs. We provide earplugs for light sleepers. A second guest unit shares the property with its own private entrance. **Water** Our well water is exceptional — softened, charcoal-filtered, and UV-treated. It tastes delicious straight from the tap. Please take short showers and conserve where you can. We are on a septic system; please use only the provided toilet paper. **Sleeping** The space is ideal for two, with a quality queen bed and fresh linens. Need a third bed or a rollaway for a child or extra guest? We're happy to arrange it for a small additional charge — just let us know ahead of time. --- This is Nicasio. Hawks circling the property at eye level. And in winter, the pond on our land becomes a frog sanctuary — they sing at night, sometimes loudly and beautifully. We cherish this. Frogs are quietly disappearing from the world; here, they still thrive. We hope it moves you the way it moves us. **Hot Tub** Maintained at 104° and complimentary. Please enjoy until 10pm. No drinks at the hot tub, please. For cold plunge and sauna, just inquire. **Water & Septic** Our well water is exceptional — softened, charcoal-filtered, and UV-treated. Drink it freely; it's delicious. Please take short showers and conserve where you can. We are on septic: nothing in the toilets beyond what belongs there, and please use only the toilet paper provided. **Sound** This unit is connected to the main house. We are quiet hosts, but ambient noise is occasionally possible. We like to say: serenity, not silence. **Pets** Pets are warmly welcome. A large fenced yard is perfect for dogs. Please keep animals on leash after dark — the wildlife here is real and nighttime can be dangerous for them. Cleaning fee: $45 **Sleeping Arrangements** Ideal for two. A rollaway bed with fresh linens can be arranged for a child or as needed for $25 — just ask in advance. **Fire Pit** Available when we have started and are actively monitoring the fire. We are in an extreme fire danger zone and take this seriously. Thank you for understanding. **Early Check-In** If you'd like a 2pm early check-in, we'll do our best to accommodate — a $25 fee covers the additional cleaning support. Please request in advance.
