Thimari cottage in Andros

You'll love this unique and charming house on Andros. This small and intimate three-room house (around 50 m2 not including the terrace) is located on the north-west side of Andros, the northernmost of the Cycladic islands, not far from Athens on the mainland. Next to a recently-restored old stone farmhouse called “Villa Thimari”, it stands on a west-facing hillside where the village of Agios Petros nestles, only 6 km from the nearest beaches. The space From the terrace, you will enjoy spectacular views of the port of Gavrio 5 km below, and across the sea to the coastline of Attica and the island of Kea, which you can enjoy from the attractive terrace of the house. This intimate space is the perfect location for a romantic getaway, for a couple, or perhaps also with a child. It would also be very suitable for a single person who wants to escape for a while from the chaos and stress of city life, in a place where you can wind down and get in touch with the unspoiled nature of this verdant island. The house is part of the sprawling ancient village of Agios Petros, on the road from the port of Gavrio to Vitali on the other side of the island. The surrounding hillside is covered by fragrant wild thyme bushes, which flower in the spring. The road to the house branches off to the right from the winding road that climbs to the church of Agios Petros, where the house has its own private parking space. The property is reached from here via a paved pathway leading to a wooden gate followed by a few stone steps that rise to the attractive terrace of the house, which is peaceful and shaded, discreetly fringed by trees, and perfect as a space for relaxation. From here, you can enter the main room of the house. The house is partially excavated into the hillside that rises to the east and it is therefore refreshingly cool and shaded in the summer months, but it is also warm and cozy in the winter. The main room is a long space with a queen-sized bed at one end in front of a window with a lovely view overlooking the sea. An extra bed can be added if you prefer and the queen-sized bed can be replaced by two single beds. The small kitchen has a fridge and two hobs for cooking and there is a surface for preparing food, as well as a wall full of shelves and storage cupboards. The attractive bathroom, embedded in the hillside, was once used for pressing grapes. The stone basin where wine once flowed has now been converted into a spacious shower. Guest access The three rooms of the house are at the complete disposition of guests for the entire duration of their stay. During the summer months, the owner of the house may be staying in the vicinity and will therefore be available for any help or information you may require. Other things to note The terrace on the north-west side of the house is a large area with chairs, a table, a comfortable recliner, and a hammock, where it is possible to relax, read, work on your computer or simply enjoy the view over the sea towards the Greek mainland and the island of Kea.
