Description

We are happy to welcome you to our Birken Chalet. Our chalet is about 35 square meters and can accommodate up to 3 people (but only a maximum of 2 adults). The chalet has a rustic kitchen with a nostalgic wood-burning stove, a cozy living and dining room and a bedroom with a double bed. From the bedroom you can access the balcony directly. In the bathroom there is a toilet as well as a shower and a stone pine sauna. The space The chalet is located on the very quiet outskirts of Falkenfels. For shopping, you will find a small Tante Emma shop and a village shop with bakery and butcher. The Bavarian Forest offers many excursion destinations. In the immediate vicinity of our chalet you can take wonderful walks, go on extensive hikes, enjoy warm weather in the outdoor pool in Mitterfels or Straubing or explore the beautiful surroundings by bike. You can safely store your bike in the adjacent barn. In bad weather, we of course also have great baths in the area, e.g. the Aquagur in Bad Kötzting with a thermarium, a fun pool and a large sauna world. In Dingolfing the Caprima, in Deggendorf the Elypso and of course in Straubing the AQUAtherm. For day trips to the city, we recommend the traditional Straubing, the "northernmost city in Italy" Regensburg or the three-river city of Passau. Whether nature or city, cozy or adventurous – you will certainly not be bored with us! Here are some of our tips for leisure activities: Hiking to our local mountain the "Büscherl" or in the Höllbachtal, One of the most beautiful hiking destinations in the immediate vicinity is the Höllbachtal nature reserve between Brennberg and Rettenbach. With its mighty boulders, the nature reserve fascinates with its rugged and untamed nature. The hiking trail is easy to walk and therefore ideal for a family outing. From nearby Brennberg, the "Zuweg Goldsteig" – No. 26 leads directly to the Höllbachtal. Valhalla A few kilometers outside the gates of beautiful Regensburg, the imposing building towers over the Danube, with which King Ludwig I artfully realized himself – the Valhalla. The Bavarian king commissioned one of the most important architects of classicism, Leo von Klenze, to build this hall of fame and honor, which was ceremoniously opened by King Ludwig I on October 18, 1842, after 12 years of construction. With the idea of building a place of honor for glorious Germans, marble busts and memorial plaques to famous German-speaking people are now located in the halls of the Valhalla, such as B. by Heinrich Heine, Martin Luther or Albrecht Dürer. But even the overwhelming view of the Regensburg area from the stairs of the Valhalla is worth a visit. Maibrunn treetop walkway Not afraid of heights? Then you can venture a walk in Maibrunn at an airy height above the treetops and enjoy an impressive view over the mountain ranges of the Bavarian Forest, the Danube Valley and the plains of the Gäuboden. Here you can experience the wonderful world of the forest from a completely new perspective. The peak of emotions is up to 30 meters high and barrier-free. In addition to the forest canopy trail, a nature adventure trail, a path of optical phenomena with a sensory cave and the unique Bavarian house on the head ensure an exciting experience for the whole family. Neuschönau treetop trail A real landmark of the Bavarian Forest is certainly the impressive tree tower in Neuschönau. A 1300 meter long walkway above the treetops leads to the platform of this remarkable tree tower at a height of 44 meters. The treetop trail allows you to take a breathtaking walk 8 to 25 meters above the forest floor with a unique perspective on the treetops of the Bavarian Forest. At the highest point, you can expect a fantastic view of the mountains and wilderness of the Bavarian Forest up to the Alps. Upper Palatinate Open-Air Museum In the Upper Palatinate Open-Air Museum in Neusath-Perschen in the district of Schwandorf, you will experience an exciting and informative journey through time into the life and work of the Upper Palatinate in this area over the past 300 years. Through the buildings rebuilt in Museum 50, you will get to know the building, living and economic activities in the regional and social diversity of the Upper Palatinate regions. In addition, the museum offers an extensive exhibition, event and guided tour program for a very special experience for the whole family. The open-air museum is located about 60 kilometers away near Nabburg and can be reached quickly from Regensburg on the A93. Falkenhof Schloss Rosenburg (Rosenburg Castle Falconry Farm) The Rosenburg near Riedenburg houses a falconry farm where you can experience the fascination of free-flying birds of prey. Twice a day at 11:00 am and 3:00 pm, except Mondays, the birds of prey demonstrate their flying skills against the picturesque backdrop of the medieval castle complex. This breathtaking spectacle delights young and old! In addition, there is a castle museum at the castle and the opportunity to get to know the birds of prey up close during a tour. Weinfurtner - The Glass Village About in the middle of the Glasstraße – the most important glass region in Germany – lies the town of Arnbruck with its thousand-year history of settlement. Here you will find the Weinfurtner Glasdorf with spacious sales rooms, impressive exhibitions, the "Kunst & Form" gallery and two restaurants. The glass village enchants its guests with exciting glass works of art between tradition and innovation. Nepal Himalaya Park At the foot of the Bavarian Forest, not far from the Danube, the Walhalla and the World Heritage Site of Regensburg, there is a fascinating Nepal temple with an exciting and species-rich perennial park, numerous works of art, events as well as demonstrations and much more. Immerse yourself in Nepalese culture and let yourself be enchanted by the magical ambience. The 8,000-meter tour from the corner to the Great Arber 8,000-meter peaks in one day This is one of the most fascinating, but also most sweaty Goldsteig stages, it is not called the royal stage of the Goldsteig for nothing. Here the hiker has a magnificent 360° panoramic view, in clear weather even up to the Alps.
