Only a 10 minute drive to shop the Citadel Factory Outlets or try your luck at the Commerce Casino. Additionally, Stonewood Mall and yummy Porto’s Bakery is about a mile away. There is a farmers’ market that is held downtown on Saturday from 9am-1pm, community bike rides, two golf courses, various festivals, concerts and fun to be had throughout the year. Another perk is that Downey is centrally located to many major freeways that get you to all the other major attractions that you want to see in Southern California; Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Universal Studios, Beaches, Getty Museum, etc... If you want to shop the outlets or gamble, we are only a 10-minute drive away from the Citadel Factory Outlet Shopping Mall and the Commerce Casino. You can drive to Disneyland in about 25 minutes, Universal Studios/City Walk in about 35-40 minutes, the beaches are about 15-20 minutes away, during light traffic hours. It is close to hospitals / medical centers, including Downey PIH Hospital, Kaiser Hospital, Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center. St. Francis Medical Center and Teaching Hospital is also a short distance away. Local shops, restaurants and malls are within walking or biking distance. However, many activities in Southern California is spread out for many miles, so you are most likely going to need a rental car to see the different attractions. For closer trips to downtown Los Angeles, there is mass transit, but if drinking will be involved perhaps you rather take an Uber or Lyft to your destination.
