Upperville Hunt Country Cottage

The home has a standing seam metal roof, clapboard-style siding, a stone foundation, a cozy front porch, and second-floor dormer windows. The interior is painted with warm colors and accented by antique oak barn wood paneling and trim in the family room. The flooring is the original antique heart pine. The cottage is decorated as a traditional English Hunt Box, with equine art and memorabilia, lovely antiques, warm carpets on the heart pine floors, and high-end bed linens. The space The Hunt Country Cottage is in the heart of Upperville, Virginia, home to the nation’s oldest and most prestigious horse show. We bought the home as a getaway second home in 2005 and have spent the past year restoring and decorating the hunt box with loving care. Enjoy the outdoors from covered porches front and rear. Relax in the comfort of a fully equipped modern house with a touch of our English heritage. The backyard is accented by a small stream, where neighborhood songbirds and hawks visit frequently. Enjoy fine dining and an old English pub across the street at the Hunter’s Head Tavern, a favorite destination for locals and visitors. The village of Upperville is peaceful, quiet, and friendly. Broad sidewalks make for a leisurely stroll through town or a visit to the local shops. Sky Meadows State Park is a 10-minute drive to the west. The park provides regular events, hiking trails, campsites, a stocked fishing pond, and access to the Appalachian Trail. Drive a little farther and enjoy nature's harvest at Stribling and Hartland Orchards. Our home is perfectly situated for equestrian activities. We are within 10 minutes of world-class stables, polo fields, and steeple chase grounds. We also enjoy the convenience of numerous wineries, excellent restaurants, Olde English pubs, and exquisite shops. The cottage is conveniently located 6 miles west of Middleburg, 50 miles West of DC, 5 miles from Sky Meadows State Park. A short 10-15 minute drive east or west takes you to a multitude of fine establishments. The Ashby Inn is located to the west in Paris. To the east is Middleburg with the Red Fox Inn, Salamander Resort, King Street Oyster Bar, Side Saddle Cafe, and Thaiverse, to name but a few. Other things to note Four (4) night minimum stay during the Upperville and Loudoun Horse Shows. We will accept shorter stays after 1st four-day stay is booked. Three (3) night minimum stay during holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years) and the Middleburg Film Festival.
