Known as one of the largest medieval historic centers in Europe, the Genoese historic center is a maze of alleys (caruggi) that open unexpectedly into small squares, often linked, like the churches that overlook them, to important noble families. The spirit of Genoa resides precisely in the alleys, where different smells, flavours, languages and cultures mix. Genoa is a city to be discovered on foot and the location of the apartment is very convenient for seeing it in all its splendour. In the historic center is the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, in Romanesque style with a black and white striped facade and frescoed interiors. Narrow streets lead to monumental squares such as Piazza de Ferrari, with its characteristic bronze fountain, and the Carlo Felice opera house. Unmissable and iconic is the aquarium of Genoa, the largest in Europe. The exhibition itinerary shows over 70 environments and about 12,000 specimens of 600 species, coming from all the seas of the world. An unforgettable experience for young and old, which will fill your heart with emotions and a deep respect for the sea and its extraordinary inhabitants. It is also impossible to overlook the Genoese culinary tradition, with the legendary basil pesto, famous all over the world, and the focaccia, which can be savory like focaccia with olives, onion and tomato, or even sweet and stuffed. There are so many things to do in Genoa. I always recommend organizing a tour with a guide, at least for a few hours to get a general idea of what to visit. There are many restaurants and trattorias in the area that I can recommend (some of which need to be booked in advance)! The car is not needed in Genoa, because of its conformation it is a city to visit on foot. The parking spaces are all paid! Even for trips out of town such as Camogli, Portofino or the 5 Terre, (highly recommended) it is ideal to travel by train!. Registration Details IT010025C2TOV97VMI
