Newly renovated with historic charm, this private entire home is located in the heart of downtown historic Greendale and was designed to mirror the times in which it was built, an early mid century innovative urban garden community home, walking distance to shops and restaurants. The owner's mother was one of the first inhabitants of Greendale and she too was born and raised in the community and appreciates the historical value and wonderful charm of this community. The family who owns the property is also co-owners of the Field Workshop in downtown Greendale. They purchased the property in part to allows others to share the nostalgia of the community. Greendale, Wisconsin had its beginnings in 1936, and officially opened in 1938, when the United States Department of Agriculture began construction of three new communities known as the Greenbelt towns as a demonstration project or suburban community planning combining the benefits of city and country life, for moderate income families, employing thousands during it’s construction. Other things to note Greendale is a close knit community and we love our neighbors, please treat this property as you would your own home and respect your neighbors. Accessibility: If you need assistance in first floor accommodations for those with mobility challenges we can make a bed available on the first floor, however note the bathtub and shower are on the second floor, but there is small half bath on the first floor. Cleaning Refund: You will be charged a $50 cleaning fee. If however, you would like to clean the property to the exact condition you found it, let us know when you check in and we will send you the cleaning instructions. Then when you check out and the cleaning crew inspects your work and it’s great then we will refund you $50. If you do not want to do any cleaning then that’s not a problem but we will keep the $50 housekeeping fee. In either case, the cleaning crew visits between each visit to disinfect, restock any supplies and check your housekeeping work but we do not add that as an additional fee. This is just an opportunity to save us all time and money.
