Charming cottage on one acre adjacent to grape vineyards. The historic hamlet of Glenora is in the heart of the Finger Lakes Wine Trail and a 10 minute drive to Watkins Glen with its glorious state park, world-famous race track, beautiful waterfront, top notch restaurants, antiques, ice cream, movie theater and more! The perfect romantic or family getaway: comfy beds, new bathroom with double vanity, spacious front porch, peaceful setting, fire pit, and outdoor shower. The cottage is a simple, seasonal house. We usually open for Memorial Day weekend and close for the winter in mid-October. On cooler days and nights during the spring and fall, there is a wood stove in the living room, electric heat in the downstairs bedroom and the two bathrooms, and multiple space heaters that can be moved around as needed. Though we rarely need it, on hot summer nights there is one window AC unit in the upstairs bedroom. The downstairs bedroom has a queen-size bed, a half bath, and access to the small back deck. The upstairs has a full bathroom and the second bedroom with four twin beds. The living room couch opens to a surprisingly comfortable full-size futon. The covered front porch is the perfect spot to enjoy your coffee or glass of award-winning local wine while you listen to the birds or read a book. In the evening, you can gather around the fire-pit in the backyard to toast marshmallows (don't forget your acoustic guitar). The neighbors on both sides are quiet, full-time residents, so we request that noise is kept to a minimum. No parties or loud music please. There is not lake access from our cottage, but there are plenty of public beaches nearby. We are happy to give you recommendations for fun things to do in the area, our favorite wineries, and restaurants for any taste or budget. Our driveway is gravel and grass, and is a bit steep at the beginning. Take care pulling in and backing out, especially if it is wet. Sometimes, we turn around and go out forward rather than backing out. There is parking for three cars in the flat grass driveway area. To get from the driveway to the house, you need to walk up a slight grassy incline and then up the porch steps. If you have limited mobility, this cottage might provide some challenges. Downhill neighbor, Steven Fulkerson, is our local property manager. He is friendly and will usually pop in to see how your stay is going. A quiet road leads from Glenora Winery down to the charming Glenora Point, a former mill community that is now a mixture of year-round and seasonal homes owned by families who have lived here for many generations. Spectacular views of Seneca Lake and the farms on the opposite shore can be seen from the road. On your way down the hill, you may spot an old stream-fed horse trough where thirsty horses can take a break after the hard work of climbing up the hill. Seeing a Mennonite horse and buggy is a common sight in the area. Our family dog likes to stop at the same point for a drink during our evening walks. We also like to walk on the railroad tracks that border the Glenora and Fulkerson Vineyards and can be accessed from the back of our property. While on private property, the beautiful Glenora Waterfall can be seen from the public road. The dock at the end of the point is also private property. Please do not use the dock or enter any of the residents' yards to gain access to the lake or the falls. We support Airbnb's Community Commitment and believe that "no matter who you are, where you are from, or where you travel, you should be able to belong in the Airbnb community.
