The Upstate Cabin: A secluded getaway in the woods

Cozy cabin tucked away in the woods, 2.5 hours north of NYC and 2.5 hours west of Boston - where the Catskills meet the Berkshires. There's hiking in the summer, skiing in the winter, and total peace & quiet year-round. This entire cabin has been hand-lovingly restored and we can't wait to share the space with you. Follow us on Insta at @theupstatecabin to follow our upstate adventures and cabin transformation. The space The Upstate Cabin is a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin originally built in the 1970's. We renovated every square inch of this cabin - bringing it back to life and making it feel like home. The cabin is completely private, tucked away in the middle of a hardwood forest. We even made our own maple syrup this year from trees tapped on the property! The cabin has incredible seasonal views over the Catskills, and stunning sunsets year-round. Located 20 minutes away from both Hudson, NY and Great Barrington, MA - both of which we highly recommend for excellent dining, cocktail bars, and antique shopping. Catamount, Bousquet, and Butternut ski resorts all within 30 mins drive. Fully equipped for remote working, including WiFi fast enough for simultaneous video calls. The house is well equipped with everything you may need for an enjoyable stay, including a fully stocked kitchen, linens, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, a record player, games, and a Smart Roku/Netflix TV. We also have a screened-in-porch with a perfect view of the sunset, outdoor fire pit, and indoor wood burning stove. Note that you can hear the sound of rain on the roof in the bedrooms. Most people (including us) love it and find it so peaceful, but in case it may bother any light sleepers we provide individual packs of ear plugs! Enjoy your stay! *Please note we have two air conditioning units, one in the primary and one in the main living space, that is ample cooling for the summers. * Please note: someone who lives in this home has a significant allergy to animal dander. Airbnb has granted this listing an exemption to its Assistance Animal policy due to this health risk. Please contact us before booking if you have any questions. Guest access Driving is recommended, with ample parking space available. It's also quite easy to take the Amtrak from Penn Station > Hudson, and take a 20-min taxi or Uber/Lyft ride to the cabin. Note there are roughly 1-2 miles of gravel roads required to access the cabin, please drive slowly. Other things to note Bring a great book to relax, enjoy the screened in porch, or a pair of sneaker to hike up to 1 of 5 fire towers in the Hudson Valley! The bathroom is on the main floor, and the bedrooms are on the second floor. Please note for anyone who may be mobility impaired. As it is an old cabin, the floorboards can shift with the changing weather, causing the occasional nail to pop out of it's place. We do our best to keep these tapped back in, but please pack a pair of slippers to avoid any inadvertently snagged socks!
