Description
At the end of a mile and a half dirt (well plowed) road lies a spacious (3000 sf) rustic-styled, fully modernized house in the middle of the 250 acre Lakefalls Estate. Guests rave about the beautiful grounds, the quiet beauty of the lake and woodlands, the variety of activities in all seasons. Snowshoes and spikes are provided for winter walking, and free kayaks and canoes are available for guest use in warmer weather. Enjoy a Solo stove on the deck. And "the star-gazing is beyond incredible". The space The Gate House is ideally suited for both couples and families with children looking for a getaway. It is situated within the 250 acre "Lakefalls Lodge" estate and offers manicured lawns abutting acres of forest and water. The windows and wraparound deck have views of a private lake in one direction and Otter Brook in another. Kids can run around and play all day on the ample lawns or snow drifts, safe from traffic. The house has a fully equipped modern kitchen and a propane grill on the deck. Other amenities include high speed internet, a wood-burning stove in the living area and a Solo fire pit on the deck, with plenty of wood for both provided without charge. We also provide canoes and kayaks without charge. There is an adjacent apartment available, never rented separately, if you would like 2 extra bedrooms. Contact us for details. While Lakefalls is located deep in the woods, it's just a 20 minute drive to Keene, NH which offers lots of great shopping and good restaurants and bars. NOTE: Dogs are welcome (with the exception of pit bulls and Rottweilers). There is a $50 fee per dog that will be charged before or on arrival. Guest access In addition to your totally private use of the Gate House, you'll be able to enjoy the Lakefalls grounds. Swim in the lake; enjoy cocktails on the turret of the stone walled garden; hike around the lake and across the covered bridge. There are miles of more serious hiking trails on the property and the adjoining 11,000 conserved acres. A canoe and kayak are at your disposal for use on our private lake or you can paddle a couple of miles on Chandler Meadow which is a unique and very private wilderness area.
