The Duinhuis is very bright and has windows all around. On one side, a view of the beach and the North Sea, on the other side from the terrace (with lounge set) on the polders and the hinterland, and on another side, the house borders a courtyard, with French doors where a garden set with table and chairs stands. The Badhuis was completed in the spring of 2018, and we have decorated and furnished our Duinhuis with great pleasure. We did it in a way that we would like to live there ourselves. We hope that you feel very comfortable and welcome here. In the Duinhuis In our Duinhuis, everything is self-evident. There are four double bedrooms on the 1st floor, one of which has an ensuite bathroom. The other two bathrooms (one with a bath) are located in the hallway. All bathrooms have a toilet. There are 2 single beds in the attic. The open attic is only suitable for children because of the limited height. The large and luxurious kitchen is equipped with every comfort and every possible luxury appliance, two dishwashers and two refrigerators. There is both a Nespresso machine and a normal filter coffee machine. There are two ovens (one of which is a combi-oven/microwave) and a large induction hob. The cooking island is made of suarwood and has a number of bar stools. The south-facing terrace has a large sun canopy so that, if it is too hot, you can also sit in the shade. From the large dining table, you have a view of the terrace and the land side. The glass sliding door can be opened in its entirety. There is an extra toilet in the hallway. We have already provided the kitchen with some basic necessities. You can use these. The house is equipped with bedding, towels, beach towels and bathrobes. These are shared with the other guests of the building. This space can be opened with the tag. You can take the elevator to the -1 floor. At the end of this hallway is a door with the name "wellness" on it. Here are the swimming pool and sauna. You can also shower and change here. It is not allowed to walk through Bathhouse Cadzand without shoes or outerwear, so please adhere to this. Right in front of the Bathhouse is an underground container for the garbage. You can dispose of your garbage bags here. We kindly ask you to dispose of the garbage and full garbage bags before departure. If the container is full, which rarely happens, you cannot put the bags next to the container, because they will be torn open by foxes or seagulls. You should then keep the bags in the storage room of the washing machine for as long as possible or throw the garbage in the container at Duinhof, down at the Boulevard de Wielingen. Bikes can be rented in the village, a little further away. Neptune is a good and friendly company and always has enough bikes for rent. You can park your bike in the parking garage in the places indicated there. Hospitality and food services At the bottom of the Bathhouse, on the sea side, there are two restaurants: Brasserie Loulou and Bistro Beaufort. Both restaurants are very good and have an extensive menu. Of course, there are two star businesses in Cadzand: Pure C and AirRepublic (by star chef Sergio Herman). Booking well in advance is desirable if you want to know about this. A personal favorite is Etablissement 1880 in Groede, also a very nice village. On the beach and in the village, of course, there are more than enough opportunities to have lunch and eat. In addition, there is a (small) supermarket in the village (Attent), two bakers (Leurgans and Finesse) and a butcher/deli. If you want to get more groceries, we advise you to go to Oostburg (AH) or Sluis. Recreation There is of course plenty to do in and around Cadzand. The beach, of course, is the most inviting. Here you can enjoy hiking, looking for shark teeth, swimming and sunbathing. The dune paths in Cadzand have been recently renovated and are beautifully passable for a nice bike ride. A bike ride over the dunes to the Zwin and further to Retranchement or the other way to Breskens is beautiful. On the beach at beach club Moio, all kinds of equipment can be rented for on and in the water, and there are also FunBeach sports camps. In the village there is a sports hall with indoor and outdoor tennis courts, and there is a short golf course, within walking distance of the Bathhouse. In Oostburg and Knokke, there is an 18-hole golf course. If the weather is bad, then a visit to Toversluis, in Sluis, is recommended for the children. Here is an indoor playground, a bowling alley and a laser game location. Plenty of shopping is of course possible in Sluis, Knokke and Bruges, all easily accessible by car. For a more detailed description of the area, see the following pages. We wish you a wonderful stay and feel free to contact us if you have any questions. P.S. There is currently construction work taking place in the vicinity of the Bathhouse. If you experience any inconvenience, please let us know! These beaches always score high in the battle for the cleanest beaches in the Netherlands. Searching for fossil shark teeth and beautiful shells during a long walk is a favorite activity of the many visitors. Cadzand has the most hours of sunshine in the Netherlands. In addition to life on and around the beach, there are countless hiking and cycling routes through the beautiful nature. On the way, it is wonderful to relax in one of the many restaurants and cafes that West Zeeland Flanders has. In this part of Zeeland, the Burgundian lifestyle of the southern neighbors is well integrated. Between Cadzand and the fashionable Knokke-Heist, on the Belgian side of the border, lies the unique nature reserve of the Zwin. At low tide, you can cross the forded Zwingeul for a walk to Knokke. On the other side of Cadzand is the nature reserve of the Verdronken Zwarte Polder. Elsewhere in Zeeland Flanders, you will also find numerous smaller and larger nature reserves. The cross-border nature park Het Zwin comprises 200 hectares of salty nature and is an example of the natural beauty that is typical of the region. The Zwin was originally the access channel to medieval Bruges. A large amount of seawater still flows into the area twice a day. This seawater creates a unique biotope. You will find a variety of special birds including spoonbills, purple herons, storks and numerous waders. In addition, there are large grazers, such as Scottish Highlanders and Royal Horses. The Zwin is also known for its enormous wealth of rare plant species that thrive well in the salty clay. Sea salt is the best known of these. In summer, the flowering sea lavender plants, also known as "Zwinneblomme," ensure that the Zwinvlakte forms an extensive purple carpet. Besides sunbathing, hiking and swimming, there is much more to experience on Cadzand beach. Close to the Bathhouse is Beach Club Moio, where activities such as kite surfing, windsurfurfing, wave surfing, surf rafting, surf kayaking, beach golf, beach volleyball, and so on are organized. At pavilion De Zeemeeuw at the Zwin, there is a catamaran school. Cadzand is also a wonderful place for sea fishing. In the basement of the Bathhouse, there is space for your bicycles. There are endless possibilities in the area for beautiful bike rides. is close by. After golfing, you can settle down in the clubroom for a social talk and a drink. Cadzand also has a nice sports hall with indoor and outdoor options for tennis and a number of squash courts. The Zwin region Cadzand and its surroundings, together with the Belgian region around Bruges and Knokke, are also referred to as "the Zwin region". Here lies the most special piece of (Zeeland) Flanders. The Cadzand area offers something for everyone. On the one hand, lots of peace and nature with a variety of possible activities in the healthy outdoors. On the other hand, there is the great shopping and catering offer in the fashionable Knokke, in the cozy fortified town of Sluis and in the beautiful historic Flemish cities. You can also fully enjoy culture in the famous medieval Bruges and in bustling Ghent. West Zeeland Flanders is a small community with relatively few inhabitants and a lot of nature. Nevertheless, Zeeuws Vlaanderen has an unprecedented number of fantastic restaurateurs and more Michelin stars than almost all major cities in the Netherlands. All these culinary greats take advantage of the special range of natural products in the area. The most famous chef is the aforementioned Sergio Herman, a famous television personality in Belgium, who was active in his 3-star restaurant Oud Sluis until the end of 2013 and trained a new generation of top chefs. Sergio still has Resto Bar Pure C in Cadzand with 2 stars, where his former student Cyrco Bakker is now behind the stove. In the summer of 2018, Sergio Herman opened the Blueness bar in the Lobby of the Strandhotel, with Japanese-oriented flavors. Other culinary high-flyers are the couple Edwin and Blanche Vincke who have 2 stars in their restaurant de Kromme Watergang, located in an old school building. There, Edwin cooks with beautiful regional products from the sea and the "salty clay". In Sluis, Francois de Potter, good for 1 star, cooks in restaurant la Trinité. AirRepublic, located in the Cadzand Marina, has also received a star. Next to the restaurant is the Air Café where everyone can walk in for a snack and a drink. In addition to these star restaurants that already receive a lot of attention, there are numerous other special restaurants, bistros and hip beach clubs in Zeeland Flanders. This is undoubtedly due to the good influence of nearby Belgium, where Burgundian life is popular, on Zeeland Flanders. The Belgians know how to appreciate a delicious lunch. That is why all these excellent restaurants are often open in the afternoon, unlike in the rest of the Netherlands. They don't call Zeeland Flemish "Reserve Belgians" for nothing. The best of both worlds The modesty and classic craftsmanship of Belgian cuisine are mixed with the adventurousness of modern Dutch chefs. A wonderful combination! On the other side of the Zwin nature reserve is Knokke-Heist. Knokke-Heist, the most mundane seaside resort of the Benelux with a South French allure. In ten minutes, you will be at the Bathhouse in Knokke, where you will be among the beau monde. You can shop to your heart's content in the hundreds of boutiques, you will find all the top brands. Of course, you can eat delicious food in one of the more than 250 restaurants or in the luxury beach clubs. There are also numerous galleries. There is also plenty for children to do. The historic city center of Bruges is only 30 kilometers from Cadzand and is well worth it. Bruges is a fantastically preserved medieval city and also the bustling heart of West Flanders. Bruges has been listed four times as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can shop extensively, view historic buildings, stroll along the romantic canals, but also enjoy exquisite restaurants and cozy terraces. Of course, the cultural offerings in Bruges are also endless. Another beautiful historic bustling city about 50 kilometers from Cadzand is Ghent. Ghent offers a surprising combination of history and a contemporary bustling city. Impressive facades, buildings and squares dominate the street scene. Stores showcase the latest trends in fashion and design. Haute couture is completely in its place here. Sluis is a cozy, busy fortress town with an unprecedented range of shops and restaurants that are also open seven days a week. You can stroll along the terraces and the shops on the cozy quay or have a drink at the market at the historic Belfort. The range of shops is very extensive with few of the chain stores that make the range so predictable elsewhere. You will find enthusiastic shopkeepers with personal attention and beautiful shops. Sluis is also a culinary paradise with its many tea rooms, bistros and restaurants. A walk on the historic ramparts is also worth it. Along the way, you can touch history at the beautiful old city gates. Groede is a cozy, picturesque and artistic village. The houses, in the streets around the former Lutheran church, have picturesque facades and are built in Flemish style. In Groede you will find Etablisement 1880, a living room restaurant with a beautiful open kitchen and a lovely garden. You can also taste the home-brewed beer at the market in Cafe de Drie Koningen. From the beautifully located Panoramaweg between Groede and Breskens, you can see the beautiful lighthouse and the mouth of the Scheldt. The huge container ships that sail through the Scheldemond to and from the port of Antwerp sail close to you. The sandbanks in the Westerschelde are flooded at high tide, with one exception, and are easily accessible from the port of Breskens. On these sandbanks, salty vegetables such as samphire grow, and a cute colony of seals lives. Breskens is traditionally a fishing village with a marina. Of course, you can buy and eat plenty of fresh fish and shellfish there. Guest access Guests have access to all areas of the Duinhuis.
