The Ocklawaha is accessible within 2 miles to enjoy fishing or boating. Once a hunting camp, we recently remodeled for your comfort. On a grassy pond for great wildlife viewing. Escape to “Old Florida”. The space The cottage has been recently updated to give it a feel of home while still portraying it's rustic charm. Enjoy most comforts of home with the recent addition of a smart tv and Wifi. Comfortable queen beds. The "Blue Room" has the half bath while the "Bunk Room" is a walk through room to the shared full bath. The kitchen may be small but provides space to cook with basic utensils provided. The bar and dining area offer space for everyone to gather after a day enjoying the outdoors. *Please review Guest Access prior to booking* All wheel drive or 4-wheel drive is recommended most of the year. If going to the springs, arrive early as they are at capacity quickly! Enjoy a breeze off of the pond while bird watching from the back patio. A fire ring is provided should you decide to tell stories around a campfire or roast marshmallows. We enjoy listening to whippoorwills in the early evening then star gazing from the patio. If it rains, the covered carport has plenty of space to pull the lawn chairs out and watch for deer. Monthly options are available. Check your dates early for our early bird discount! Guest access Access is via forest roads which are mostly dirt and sand. Penner Pond is about 1 mile from the paved road via Ft. McCoy or Salt Springs. It is approximately 2 miles past Rodman Dam via SR19 from Palatka. During dry or extreme wet seasons we recommend all-wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicles. Cottage access with keypad. Your code will be sent 6-24 hours prior to your arrival. Other things to note If you are not familiar with the ONF and it's location, you are approximately 1.5 hours from Orlando theme parks or the beaches. Many Florida State Parks surround the forest including several clear water springs that are enjoyed year round with water temperatures in the 70's all year. Hiking, biking, fishing, hunting and 4-wheeling are all around for outdoor enthusiasts'. Festivals, antiquing, unique visits such as the mushroom farm are activities for others to enjoy.
